I was merely pointing out critising the club on demonland, even if that criticism is justifiable, is not being 'part of the solution' in so far as it has zero impact on how the club performs.

also find Tom Sparrow annoying - tries hard but zero impact. Can’t go to the next level. Needed to step up in the absence of Trac.

more tackling pressure and run which supports the @binman thesis that post loading our energy levels are at full capacity 

look at the cattle they have in the fwd line though - hate their guts but Rainer hipwood Daniher and Cameron et al are a strong combination

As one who says his point of view I understand where you come from, I know that's a shock to read, but the problem I have with this forum is the debate issue it seems if you write something that people deed as negative it's criticised for being anti club instead of debating the issue with those people and express  why they are wrong and then both sides should have an open mind about it instead it ends up a us against them attitude,  and yes I have been guilty of that but more debate less attack would be helpful for discussion.

I detest Zorko more than any other player in the game, and wish him a miserable post-AFL life.

I hate watching anyone playing for frees and it's been creeping into our game.

So TMac has been great down back but he should be forward where he hasn’t had a kick since mid 2021?

The forwards play won’t be fixed by shuffling deck chairs. We need better coaching and mids, but aside from anything we need continuity in what we do have. 
 

Fritsch somewhat pulled his finger out last bought. Petty’s having a go. Disco has a real crack.

That variability is the key reason why I don't bet on footy as much during the bye phase of the season.

One example- lions scored 152 points last week at Adelaide oval against port. Are port really that bad? Are the lions really that good

At home, in perfect conditions against a team further down the ladder than port (one, even most of its fans gave no hope too and started 5.35. Port were favourites to beat the lions) the lions could only manage just under half tthat. And almost got rolled.

One thing that variability at this time of year does create is opportunity. 

Because unlike horse racing (my other sporting passion) most footy punters don't factor in the training program as a variable. No one expects a Melbourne cup winner to win first up at 1400, no matter how much better than they are than their opponents. 

In my assessment we were great value last night at the 30 point line because they are not a five goal better team than us and believe we planned our program to be closer to our optimal fitness for this game (im not being smart after the fact - I made that exact point on the podcast. And it would be hard to argue I wasn't proved correct given how the game played out).

Similarly, port being givem a +3.5 line against the saints is overs because lots of punters are basing their assessment on port being smashed by the lions last week.

Yeah I get that feeling. Petty is a long term player and if we can’t get good trade picks, then we need to find his best spot, which is the 3rd tall defender. TMAC appears to be injury free and would be a good addition next to JVR.

Pretty solid unexpected hit from the [censored]. Not sure Kolt’s had too many of those (from the ones who know how to do them “properly”), so prepared to give the benefit of the doubt.

I generally agree and want more from sparrow.. I was personally fine with him > Jordan.. if it was a choice. But I still thought he did a good job of quelling Neales influence for a lot of the match..

Still not sure why Rivers seemed lax when taking that kick with 30 seconds to go. Slow to get up and of all times to turn your back on the mark that wasn't one of them, times like that you need to get it in quick. 

With the ball having just been in 50 I find it hard to believe we didn't have any tall timber up there ready. Ball was obviously going to the top of the square yet Sparrow was the marking target, where was Turner, JVR or even Max?

And how much is people's view of that incident coloured by the over the top reaction and accusation of staging by the commentator?

They only showed a replay once and it didn't look like he staged or flopped to me.

If that free gets paid for tripping we are a good chance of winning the game as we would have had the opportunity to maintain possession for the last 90 seconds.

I think one tactic which would earn us at least a goal a game would be to NEVER take a player off the ground as soon as he kicks a goal.

All teams do it, but it’s lazy.  The time break after a goal allows them to make an interchange more easily.

A player’s confidence is higher after a goal, and he’s in the frame of mind to do it again!
The goal-kicker is often not exhausted. The ball has probably arrived quickly and he’s goaled without too much running around. He is, however, puffed out after sprinting from the forward line to the interchange bench.

We could gain a slight edge over the competition if we abandoned the conventional wisdom that it’s a good idea to remove players immediately after a goal.
