CASEY: Rd 14 vs Northern Bullants

Recommended Posts

Once upon a time there was the real VFL. Non-performing umpires who made rule interpretation stuff ups were sent to the bush. In the hope improvement was possible or they’d simply disappear. So ends today’s fairytale.

Billings with a nice dribble goal in the wet puts Casey up by 4 points.

Jefferson watch:

4 touches

3 marks

1 goal

EDIT: 5 touches with an outstanding pass to McAdam who misses

Opponents arms pinned ball release is neither by kick or handball. Play on what happened to HTB?

Sestan good mark but is he at the crossroads in the next few months?

Just isn't getting alot right, other than the odd opportunist goal or goal assist and the work rate / skills / positioning and defence are pretty average.  No speed across the ground either.

Adams looking like he might be a bust?  I just can't see any weapons or skills that would see him capable of stepping up to AFL level.  He barely impacts at this level.

Another BS rule ‘amendment’ full back can run 20+ meters to kick out after behind. Complete the farce erase or enlarge the goal square.

For me Sestan is all about his fitness capacity, because he needs to be able to cover ground AND have burst speed to play his role.

So I reckon an extension for Sestan is about whether they thing another preseason is what he needs, rather than pure talent.

Too laconic for mine though deanox.  The 'want' / work rate factor, even at this level, just isn't there this season.  In very small patches...yes occasionaly.

I know people are keen to write Laurie off, but he is as hard as a cats head.. some incredible tough efforts in the wet today. would love to see him have a look at Chandlers spot.

he doesn't provide the defensive pressure

laurie will either make it as a mid at afl level or he'll have a long vfl career a la mitch white

Adam’s was the one being held there and they somehow give a free the other way? Weird!

Nothing at all weird DistrAction.  Par for the course.

Yep. Jury's out for me but if we drop out of the finals race in the near future I think it's time to give him a run at games at AFL level. Seems like a player lacking confidence when his in the senior team but it's hard to fault his form in the VFL. He is contracted so let's find out. Would be a bonus if he showed something with the 'big boys'.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
