very much in the same way you can’t say we move the ball quickly if the result is not a goal. It is a point, out of bounds or a rebound. We can all name great sides that moved the ball fast from the past, but of course they had efficiency.

Confirmation bias isn't so much about highlighting data that supports your view — it's more about ignoring or dismissing data that doesn't.

Highlighting data can also include ignoring and dismissing other factors and data.

Wheelo does a great job with providing us with stats without the condescension imo.

Pies will have one last shot this year. They'll be there again next year, but will not threaten as GCS, Doggies, Lions and Adelaide will enter their prime (and will remain the main challengers for the next 3-4 years).

Agree with the teams in contention. The Doggies are another one who irk me a little. Looking at post 2021 GF results, they obviously were not as successful as us, having achieved, 8th, 9th, then 6th, and now this year really ought to do better than when they are and likely well. They are occasionally frustrating, but very good when good - but the stability of being thereabouts and not out of the frame is good. Us on the other hand going from top four to essentially bottom 4 is disheartening. That ladder position really kind of reflects our in game mentality.

Anyone who thinks Geelong will suddenly fall off a cliff when Cameron, Dangerfield and co retire, needs to have a look at their drafting. There is no other club in the competition that so consistently unearths players such as Dempsey, Humphries and Stewart from out of nowhere.

We used to be able to do it, but we haven't trusted Jason Taylor with late picks in recent years.

You really think Tim Lamb just trades away our second and third rounders to move up the board without asking? It’s probably Jason Taylor’s strategy, clearly prefers getting two picks in the first round than spreading them across the second and third, he’s the one that knows what talent is there, ridiculous that you’d think he’d not be part of this planning, and that we just ‘don’t trust him’.

Buku Khamis has been omitted from the Dogs team for tomorrow night. From the limited times I’ve seen him he’s quite exciting, reasonable disposal, can take a mark and kicks goals. He skillset suits the current style of the game. He’s 190cm which is taller than I thought, he’s not the 200cm we want but what are our realistic options?

14 games this year for 13 goals 3 and 27 tackles laid.

47 games is nothing. And he's dynamic, skilled and can finish. Gold Coast have a high level of talent and these are the kinds of players that get squeezed out. I'd have home over any of our current smalls right now, (aside from Kosi).

A player who has played under 50 games and you're using his goal to point ratio as the evidence to suggest that he's not necessarily a smart goal kicker?

He's a baby and has natural goal kicking sense as is evidenced by those numbers as well as the EYE test.

Sure he's not in GC best 22 atm but they're stacked and these are the types of players we should be looking at.

well, i don't think it determines whether he is or he isn't - as i suggested; i don't know

what's his defensive work rate? what's his running capability? his tackling?

so many more components go into a small forward's role

what are the reasons he can't crack gc17's best side?

what's his form like in the vfl?

the more talent we can bring into the squad, the better

we definitely have a dearth of small forwards - i'd argue chandler is the only goalkicking one these days, with pickett playing up the ground as a mid / forward, and even chin roams high

both spargo and sparrow play more connector or defensive roles as nominal 'small forwards' in our side

Small forward is definitely a position that needs to be looked at.

We have the amazing Kozzzzy but he is now needed on rotation in the midfield.

We need a pacy, high pressure, goalkicking small crumbing forward. It’s not Spargo. It’s not Sparrow.

Maybe Rosas jnr. He was just a name that I looked at as a small fwd when seeing who was being squeezed out at other clubs.
