If its true that Lever felt blindsided and angry because he felt disrespected at the fact he was even drop then see ya later Jake.

Your form has been absolute poor since 2022 and as a leader hes been sub par.

Turner has taken his spot anyhow, the guy is a dead set liability as his body is cooked big time.

you'd have to seriously look at any offer that was received for rick lever.

I think his ankles are stuffed so could be in the best interests of all concerned.

i wouldn't like to lose Judd McVee at all. Classy player struggling to find form post injury. but i'm sure he'll come good with an injury free preseason

Might be true about Jake, wouldn’t mind if we parted ways, but Tom Morris also said this year that Petracca made an impromptu speech at the end of a game that was highly emotional and inspiring for teammates, which turned out to be completely bull [censored] so I’m taking his Melbourne ‘mail’ with a grain of salt 😂

This may be a bit out there but should we bring Frosty home to replace Marty Hore?

If the thinking emoji still existed, I would have used it here!

We couldn’t trade in / attract any decent talent when finishing top 4 in 22/23 how do we expect to do so finishing bottom 6 two yrs running

MFC has let the kid down,2 years of playing a lock down defender and with his skills by foot is a waste.hope he stays but nothing has changed yet

Yeh jeez poor kid, we picked him up in the rookie draft when no one else wanted him and gave him a chance to play AFL, what a letdown! He’s having a pretty ordinary year, just sign the two year deal and get on with it stop complaining

Yeah, imagine playing on the best small forwards week in week out then everyone says he's having a bad year when Rankin kicks 5🤔

He was absolutely torn a new one when they tried him in the middle throughout the year.

End of last year as well, looked totally lost in there, and yet he’s complaining about his ‘role’ this year? He’s in his 3rd year of senior footy, shouldn’t be complaining about anything, you’ve got to earn your stripes, we’re not exactly throwing Nick Daicos down there to play on the most dangerous smalls every week are we ? 😂🤦‍♂️

Don't think he's talked about playing in the middle, more a running back

End of last year the whole team looked lost, the same as this year.

I think it’s also worth noting how much of an impact Angus Brayshaws contract will have on our cap in the next 3 years. After negotiation with the AFL, it was decided that only 50% of his contract will appear in the salary cap player payments for 2026, however the full contract will appear for 2027 and 2028. It was a 3 million dollar payout, so say an average of 600,000 a year. If this deal was backended which most are nowadays, we could be having 300000-400000 blocked out next year and 700000-900000 for the two years after, which considerably hamstrings us for any free agents or large trades, especially given the Trac and Clarry situations. Our list management team is incredibly under the pump.

You should take some time out to watch our games doomsday Dee, we beat Brissie up there, also Freo, Swans, pushed Hawks, Pies, GCS and Crows also pushed GWS to within a goal. We really aren’t that far off the pace but I guess that doesn’t suit your agenda. If the Team was lost do you think we would be pushing the top sides to within a couple of goals??

Look i get we have had a lot - i mean - a lot of bad luck with contracts. in fact it has to be some sort of statistical anomaly - it seems like the Normmy is diversifying his curse and looking for new ways to royally screw us over.

Some of our biggest and longest contracts:

  1. Brayshaw - medically retired

  2. Trac - Serious; potentially career ending injury >> never the same

  3. Oliver - can't put my finger on it, but he is struggling since the infamous hammy back in 22.

  4. Salem - Yes it was only a 5 year deal, but injuries and thyroid have plagued him ever since 2021.

In hindsight, we have botched these deals. If (hypothetically) Trac and Oliver's contracts were to have concluded say last year - in the heart of our list crisis, i think they would have been RFA (not UFA). Given their salaries, would have netted us each a top 10 pick (pick 6 and pick 7).

This would have given us so many options (5,6,7). Langford, Tauru, Lindsay and we would have kept 2026 pick 1.

Now ill concede nobody would have predicted this downfall back in 2021 - i mean nobody, but boy i cant really see why we would be handing out long term contracts willy nilly after that.

I love Kozzy and am glad he has stuck with us, but had he wanted to leave, he would have gotten us 2 maybe 3 first round picks. I just hope he doesn't succumb to any ill fate like the others we have signed up.

Do watch, thinking North's,bombers and the Saints come to mind.its a win and lost industry, the next 3 to 4 weeks are interesting, should win all then a horrible stretch home.our players will be another year older but the kids look exciting, pity the Billings and Fullaton and co aren't up to it.2026 will be another 25 and 25 was the same as 24 but as Goody would say,the learnings and now the love bring on 2026🤣

That’s unfair by the AFl for any club that’s had to medically retire a player should not be included in the cap! We lost a great player so how can u replace him if ur restricted on cap space ??

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
