Dees as a destination club seems to have been truly killed off.
Still after 2021, Lamb has delivered Dunstan, Hunter, Schache, Grundy (Y), Billings, Fullarton, McAdam.

Hardly tracking as a “destination” since our premiership. More like a salary dumping saloon.

If Houston really is off our radar, do we still target Cumming?

Obviously, Houston would have been part of midfield rotation, so it'll be telling if we don't target another half back.

Cumming supposedly only choosing between the SA clubs or staying at GWS - Twomey saying that our interest wasn’t as strong as theirs

But do we shift gears now, if there's no Houston?

Nibbler played well today.
I’m betting he’ll play well next week as well.

We may be able to trade him for Soligo and one other?

Pedlar? Dowling? ROB?

There is no way the crows are trading soligo

i want a best 22 player

given the dotage of may and plugger mac:

keane holds appeal - he apaz wants to return to the filth - as a tall defender aged under 25

jordan butts is vic lad who is also a solid tall defender

their mids are for the most part, mid - soligo, chayce jones, lachlan sholl, harry schoenberg (albeit the latter is an sa boy)

their push up small forwards who anb will replace are meh - lachie murphy, ned mchenry, lachie gollant...

keane or butts for mine`

They struggle for tall backs, so I'd be surprised if they let one of them go.

yeah i agree

but keane is apaz eager to return to the melbourne metropolis, might as well come to the fc

may was keen on the filth before he ended up with us, so history could repeat...

Better Keane than Butts.
Butts is ok but the Irishman could be anything if he learns to control his aggression.

Stengle would be a massive steal. He is close to the best small forward in the league. But we are stacked in the SF department (Chandler, Kozzy, McAdam, Spargo) to name a few. Will he solve any problems that we currently have? Maybe a little, but our focus should be squarely on securing a midfielder as a FA.

There's a couple you mentioned that I don't think would harms us, if they left.

For Neal-Bullen. 😭

Crows.

Swap for crows 2nd round pick 25/26 - that’s light on and we get ripped off

Swap for Zac Taylor - is he a midfielder or small forward - maybe Crows add in their 3rd round pick (pick 45-46) … maybe too light

Swap for Jake Soligo - would be a massive steal for the Dees 😊 but they won’t let him go.  Maybe we throw in Adam Tomlinson and pick swaps.

Power

Swap for their 1st round pick - pick 15/16. That’s fair!! We could throw in the Swans 2nd round pick to go back (around pick 38).

Swap for Dan Houston 🤣  We could throw in Swans 2nd round pick.

the pear don't need him - darcy byrne-jones plays a near identical role, and plays it well

it's crom or no trade, and i don't want their picks; i want a best 23 player

there's nothing on their list (that they'd be willing to let go) that i would particularly want other than keane, who has eyes for a return to the filth

get into the conversation, and lamb, and bring an irish boy back to red and blue

It will be interesting to see if the Crows or Power are keener on Alex Neal-Bullen.

Dan Houston for Alex Neal-Bullen "seems" a fair trade. But it's probably not that simple. Especially as Port Adelaide want two first round draft picks for him, which is ridiculous.

When it comes to the Crows there's a few players that would be worthwhile asking about.

Jake Soligo and Zac Taylor would be possible options maybe. Especially as I don't see Josh Rachele leaving the Crows.

As for the Power, if we can't get Dan Houston. There's definitely a few others worthwhile inquiring about.

Such as, Josh Sinn (who I have been a fan of since his draft days), Miles Bergman, Dylan Williams, Ollie Lord or even Willem Drew.

I thought Nibbler would be more for Powell Pepper while he recovers.

@dazzledavey36 said in the post-game thread that we should be thinking about targeting GC players in the wake of yet another disappointing Suns season. I agree - surely whatever lure Hardwick had 12 months ago has worn off to an extent.

Is Bailey Humphrey truly happy up there? Fiorini? Does Alex Davies have another level in him which a change of scenery might bring out?

I’m far from the most knowledgeable on their players but there has to be some talent on their list that isn’t getting played.

Humphrey signed a 5 year deal, but they keep adding top end talent through their academy and I could see him dropping out of their best 22. Fiorini could be a decent depth option and obviously Lukosius is another, but he may want to go back to Adelaide

Bring Andrew Mac to where he belongs and give GCS the handful of rubbish late picks they used for him and not a pick 5 where they matched the bid.

Seems fair to me as they AFL changed the rules in his draft year and are about to change them back only 2 years later.

Of course it won't happen...

Humphrey had 8 touches at 50% yesterday. He looked very ordinary.

Thank God Essendon never accepted our offer for their pick

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
