Richmond remind me of us.

Constant poor decisions.

Especially the looping handballs to stationary players.

An almost lazy and over confident style at times.

The Wizard conjures up 3 more behinds out of nowhere!

He's called "The Wizard" because he can turn certain goals into behinds.

Just watching Chol, did we even ask the question. Seems to take marks, tackle and score goals everytime I watch a hawthorn game.

assume we didn’t show interest cos a certain someone hadn’t been suspended yet?

Time to replay the 2021 GF perhaps

Did that but it made me lament the loss of LJ. He was an enormous part of bang bang bang

wouldn't have made a difference - hawks could absorb the huge salary and there was no way we could do so

don't forget he was still on big coin from the gc17 contract

most deals for the end of each year are sorted out 6-18 months prior, really, not during the actual trade week; it's why requests out of the blue like petty to the crom or lachie neale suddenly wanting to go back to flagmantle are less rather than more likely to come to fruition

i'm not liking hawks renaissance.

go tiges

Hawks are going to be very good I can see them entering the window in 2-3 years time. It’s just not fair how quickly they have come back.

imagine shushing the crowd in Dusty’s 300th

Especially after being gifted another ridiculous free kick

Easily the biggest [censored] in the league

I am referring to the Wizard by the way

I remember almost everyone on here not considering him at the time

very inconsistent but playing very well tonight

Our recruiting needs to be questioned seeing Chol …yet we get Fullerton who hasn’t played a game after the Grundy disaster, throw in billings, Shache, Hunter & have a trifecta of has beens, that’s not topping up to win another flag , not sure what their strategy is/was, but it reflects the flip flop of Goodwin

This might be controversial around these parts but it might be time we stop letting Gawn be the final sign off on who we recruit.

Not sure if Gawn is responsible yeah the Grundy one was but I dare say the others are Lamb, Taylor & Goodwin

If we recruited Chol he would be on your list of failures. averages just over a goal a game. barely rucks and extremely inconsistent

Were you ok with May, Lever, Langdon, Hibberd, Melksham?

Gee there is no way back in r2 when we thrashed the hawks & kept them to only 5 goals that now we'd be out of the 8 & the hawks would be sitting on equal points with us

Ffs give it a rest will you?! You’ve made your point oh so many times. This thread is cool because we get to chat while watching other sides play each other. You’re making it uncool with your repetitive slagging off on our team. If you must do that, please take it to a relevant thread. Please!

Gee just over 92,000. Just goes to show how much dusty is loved and respected.

Also the hawks are playing well to.

That's more than what carlton/Collingwood  & carlton/essendon got.

You absolutely have to give credit to Richmond supporters today. 92,000 is a huge effort, especially given how uncompetitive they've been all season.

Dusty thanking the fans for coming out & I bet the media turn it into is he saying goodbye.

Good on Jack riewoldt for snaffling an interview with him. Fox footy would be loving that.

I respect your opinion but the thread is talking about other games and posters are discussing players etc and our recruiting.

Exactly! That’s what this thread is for. There’s so many other threads to discuss our Club. It would be awesome if we could keep this thread to NON-MFC as per the thread title. It’s not a big ask.

Now Sydney are playing. It would be great if we don’t have to keep hearing how dumb we are re JJ and Grundy. Not in this thread anyways.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
