So strange we are in tenth all of a sudden.

Just two games in beating Freo ( which smashed our %) and Eagles....which weren't unreasonable to imagine we could have won ....would see us in second spot on the ladder. Go figure.

It's a close season for sure but Traccas injury I feel has cemented our fate of it wasn't already. 

Well that's another season done. Max and may will be 33 before the 2025 season. We haven't got any plans in place to replace these 2. It's just a waste of this list. 

Apart from gawn trac is the player we could least afford to lose, apart from may.

Anyone else find it weird the club didn't announce it through a press release.  Rather trac did it on insta & not his own one his cooking one? It's like hey I'm out for the year but have a look at my cooking page

So while it's technically legal, it's not exactly fair or sporting. Moore had nothing to gain in doing it and here we are with another Mfc player smashed by a pies one.

Now I'm no particular fan of the Purple one. I do however try to read and listen broadly as it's more often, to me  about what is said than predetermining any voracity due to who says it.

Think this has merit..

Certainly no need for it.  That was a lot of body Mass moving at speed focused in a small area ( knee surface) and caused a ton of damage. For every action there is an equal......busted ribs, torn spleen and hole in lungs. Wth? Wouldn't want that force focused on the base of one's spinal cord.

Not advocating for that exactly but I do feel we have become too nice. We let a lot of things slide by because that's how Max is and it's how Goody wants us to play but I feel it's gone to far now. We are being bullied. We need to get angrier and stand up for ourselves. It doesn't mean smashing peoples heads or breaking ribs, just be harder!

I agree we should have known better than to send him back out...BUT

It's so pathetic that a journalist feels the need to applaud Collingwood for not worsening an injury they caused as if they applied some form of chivalry. Complete nonsense and unnecessary. Disgraceful bulltish!

I dont see it so much as applauding Collingwood as much as suggesting they obviously perceived his return as questionable when we didnt.

2 aspects of all of this are just so terribly wrong.  1) It wasn't  Tracs call...  2)  The Mfc medicos made the wrong call.   They can dress it up however they like but they should have erred on the side of caution. 

This is just a monumental stuff up and it's not being held to sufficient accountability

It was blindingly obvious from level 4 that he was grimacing every time he moved, could not raise his arms and was done. Yet he played a quarter.

 

This should shut up the smart alec, uninformed commentators in the media.

It took two lots of scans to detect anything more than two cracked ribs. 

"I don’t think we all understood the severity of it, to be honest. I think we got an initial scan around 8pm (or) 9pm. The first scan showed two cracked ribs, and then just a little bit of bleeding around the lung,” Petracca told Nova radio station.

“I don’t know what happened. I think 15 minutes later one of the doctors was just checking my blood levels and noticed my haemoglobin was dropping severely, and my blood levels were dropping. So I [had] another scan, and that’s when they noticed on the next scan I had four cracked ribs, a grade-five spleen [laceration] and a punctured lung, too".

“It went from being a four out of 10, to basically a 10 out of 10 – equivalent to a car accident. It seemed pretty full on. I had to go straight into surgery at 2am; open surgery. I wasn’t under anaesthetic because my blood levels were so low.”

There is no way anyone could have known the extent of the injury at the ground so any criticism of our doctors for letting him play on is completely unfounded.

Can't see it happening but Whately, Purple et all owe our doctors an apology. 

Unimaginable what Petracca has gone through especially having surgery without anesthetic albeit being 'gassed up'.  A very brave and tough person.  

May soon elevate him to 'Hero' status in my eyes.

Anyone know what Tom Morris was alluding to in regards to the friction between the MFC and Trac’s family? Almost seemed once Trac got to hospital the club didn’t seem to provide the level of care or concern for him and his family that he was expecting?

SO it seems that the treating doctors in the ED with all the marvels of modern medicine also missed it with their initial assessment.  I think this has to be highlighted and brought to the attention of everybody criticising the MFC. Will it be done? No. This is exactly where Pert and Kate need to get a hustle on and deal with this PR disaster. We are often silent too often and it does not work in our favour.

Much is made of any and all evaluations . Ive been one..  and some are saying even with the best scans and protocols ...  how was it missed.

In all of this the the "blindingly obvious" ( correct jnr ) seems just as blindindly overlooked and/or disregarded.   He couldn't move properly and was in pain.

You could see it....I could see it....I know others here could..   The Collingwood players could and seemed more concerned.

I'm not sure it has been a PR disaster for the club.  It was more like a lynch mob mentality among the brainless media.

However, I would have liked the club to release the scan results (assuming they had Christian's permission).

 

I'll settle for apologies writ large by every media person who went in boots and all.

I'll wait until there is more info on this before commenting too much.

For now suffice to say that it is very rare for non-family visitors to be allowed into ICU especially post covid.

A lot of Richmond supporters state that once Dusty sustained a very nasty kidney injury he was never the same. Wish all the best for Trac I hope he can recover mentally and physically.

From my observation of the incident Collingwoods  captain  walking off , with no more than backwards glance, after heavily smashing his knee into an opponent who was clearly badly injured. Says it all about that club
