So I think we would all like to see what abilities some players at Casey possess.

then play them against similar opponents, I mean the weaker sides not much point in playing them and having them walloped and lose all confidence.  But it needs to be more than one game at a time.  Remember JW.

Which players are possibly open to a good offer? More like a wish list.

Ideally Age 22-25 , high impact, experienced, returning Victorian? Dissatisfied with currentteam/prospects?

Just scratching the surface though I’m sure to have included or missed something obvious.
Some high cost/value, others cheaper but may not offer much. Mainly speed - mids and forwards. Have not included any rucks as I believe it will be difficult to attract any after last year until Max actually retires.

(grouped in clubs, possibility and by quality of the group)

Serong, Young, Brayshaw,

Butters, Drew, Bergman,

Davies-Uniake,

Holmes

Callaghan, Ash,

Taranto, Baker, Short, Ross, Graham

Dale, Richards, Smith

Sinclair, King,

Rayner,

Walsh, Curnow

Parish, Hobbs,

King, Humphrey, Ballard,

Couldn’t find too many from these teams: Coll, Haw, WC, Adl.

Seriously frustrated by the way Goodwin drips Woey and Tomlinson yet puts games into Hunter, Billings, Laurie, Schache etc. They are not part of our future.

Quick list update and revision

key defenders: May, Petty, Tomlinson (if he stays), Adams

tall defenders: Lever, D.Turner, Hore.

med/sml/running defenders: Rivers, Bowey, Salem, Mcvee, Howes

inside Mids: Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Sparrow

outside Mids: Langdon, Woey jnr (if he stays) , Windsor

key forwards: JVR, Jefferson, Fullarton , Kentfield

tall forwards: Fritsch, Sestan

small forwards: ANB, Pickett, Chandler, Throlstrup, AMW, K.Brown

Rucks: Gawn Verrell

thats 33

End of 24- retirements: TMCD, Melksham, BBB

Delist: Schache, JS29, Farris-white

Must be delisted ( but probably won’t): Hunter, Spargo, McAdam, Laurie , Billings.  Offer nil nudda nothing.

Specially Woewodin, it's a travesty. For such a young player that could become a 200 gamer for the club. Is there some lost love between Goodwin and Woewodin Sr?

I get the frustration but Woey is a developing young player. He had a couple of full games and was poor. Understandably dropped. Has made an impact as sub so he continued as such. Then dropped as needed some full game time. Not a travesty just a young player being developed. Just how Jordon, Sparrow, Bowey, etc etc were developed. We have been excellent in this area under Goody

until woey 2.0 can hit a target from 40m under zero pressure i'm not convinced he's going to make as an afl player

the amount of times at both afl and vfl level his kicks - particularly when trying to execute the switch - miss the target by some margin is a concern

Agree Picket with ageing stars May, and Gawn, then the late 20s stars of Viney, Lever, Trac, Clarry, Salem, ANB, Lingers

Youngsters need to elevate themselves… Rivers, Fritsch, McVee, Pickett

Fritsch is not young, he's 28 I believe.

He’s 27, (not being smart, just sitting in an airport waiting lounge with time to kill).

A lot of senior players just turning up and not playing with passion.

In my world he is a baby… 🤓 In AFL terms he is still young ish

There are people in the side who are literally a decade younger than him.

I am not convinced on JVR. As a KPF he makes a good relieving Ruckman. As a relieving ruckman he makes a good kpf. He doesn't do either well. Yes he has the odd good game followed by 5 ordinary ones. Sadly there is no one to take his place so he stays in.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
