Question:

Where does fritters goal rank in the great Demon goals?

The one he kicked after Harmes hit him lace out? 😅

Second to Allen Jakovich's over the head one for me... 👆

I mentioned our I50 efficiency last week and this week it was good again at 51% with 27 shots from 52 I50 entries.

Why are people bemoaning our gameplan when we're getting more looks at goal per I50 than we've had in a long time?

Not a question rather an observation. Tommy Mac has been enormous for us and had another great game tonight. I don’t think he receives the plaudits he deserves. The backline looks even better with Tommy back down there.

Love the podcast - never miss an episode.

What about Jakovic's scissor kick?

How mammoth was Max in the last quarter. 9 possessions, 4 clearances and a goal?

I was worried that Max might have been injured early because he was off the ground for a large chunk of the 2nd quarter. Didn't realise until the end that he had a concussion test.

I reckon you also have to take into account the stage of the game and the importance of the game. Super late in the 4th , less than a goal the difference,  4 v 1 ( with 1 unbeaten) is a big time in a big game. Jacko kicked that scissor goal as part of a big win against the roos just before 3/4 time. I vote for Fritters

What are your feelings / thoughts on Billings. Im not sure he's bringing that much anymore.  Does Bowey come in and switch some positions around to replace him.

Agreed. He's also just a great foil for Cameron. Has the legs and the height to go with him.

I already know the answer but I’ll ask anyway. Will the media give Goody the recognition he deserves for the tactical masterclass? Scott mentioned that his players were off, which they were, however they were off because Goody didn’t allow the cats to play the type of game that they were expecting/wanting to play. Thoughts?

Maybe the additional question is - what reasons woudn't the media give Goodwin the recognition? I just assume Scott is trying to protect his players, and will be quite concerned behind the scenes... he's a great coach with a great team around him, and they've got a bit to nut out. They'd also understand  we could have won by 4-6 goals...

Totes agree!

TMac in the backline seems to have lifted Levers game allowing him to play back to his intercepting best. TMac has also taken the pressure off May having to take on all the all the Gorilla opposition forwards and resting rucks. May seems to be back near his best as well.

Hello men,

Love the podcast and you're contributions to the club. We are very lucky to have you guys involved and your positive analysis (although Binman would suggest it is an even analysis) has helped me to appreciate the game a lot more.

My observation last night in a tide of positives, all well deserved, is of an opposition player in Zac Guthrie. He had a great game. I know we held (possibly through Turner ) Stewart to a low involvement in the game, but I wonder if they were happy to let that happen as long as Guthrie was having such an impact. I thought Nibbler had a poor game by his standards, but was more worried by the efforts of Billings and Chandler. I think Guthrie played on, or more, ran off Chandler for most of the night. Do the team see this as a concern moving forward.

I think we should look at developing a taller half forward option as it looked to me to be one of the only negatives on a great night. With the availability of McAdam and Melksham after the bye, I think Billings and Maybe Chandler have put their spots in danger.

Thanks and Go Dees

Petty the Centre Half Forward finally arrived. Those marks down the line were huge. 8 marks for the match. More of this please Harrison.

Is Fritta one of the Afls premier forwards? Both Cameron and Hawkins kept scoreless.

Fritta's not far from Coleman leader in Curnow. I think he's very underrated. Is he?

Posted

Can we talk about our elite kicks on the list?

What's our top 5 for kicking skills?

Fritsch

McVee

Salem

Windsor

Kozzy

Do you agree?

Maybe you can add Bowser and Rivers.

He's definitely in AA considerations this year.

Billings is a better field kick than say Windsor ans rivers.

Def elite. His field kicking yesterday was sublime.

Hi guys,

id like to get your thoughts on the 49 possession and 21 marks combined for the Lever and May combo.

i watched them closely and they hold each other so accountable and are always providing real time feedback. I believe this has taken their game to a new level.

id also like to hear the praises for our young star Duke Windsor. How unbelievable were his 2 tackles, so strong for such a young player and he does now remind me of a young Robbie Flower. Run down tackles that end up in goals are my favourite!!!

keep up the good work - love the pod.

No he's not. Why was he subbed off? Ironically he was good in the third before being subbed. Watch his disposals in the first half.

Huge win, very pleased.

Good to see Petty run into some form, i like this role too, up the ground more where his leading patterns don't matter as much but we can move the ball quickly if he clunks it around the wing which means we can change angles and get better fwd options.

It also allows him to help the defence out and play his natural game of attacking the footy in the air.  The inclusion of Turner has allowed this to happen.

Also, i wasn't sure about you Woey as a def, but could he be that lock down small defender we have been craving since Jetts retired?

I tipped us - and we kept the cats to the target score or 60-70 points.  We can beat anyone if we manage that from a defensive perspective.

Simply want to shout out to the crowd - it was great to be a demon amongst that crowd.  When we won, it was wonderful! Go Dees!

Hi guys, looking forward to another great podcast. The stat that we had 5 players with 10 games or less, and McVee with not too many more, is just so heartening. The fact that these guys, Windsor excepted are “no names” as far as the afl industry is concerned, gives real confidence that our beloved dees have finally matured into a modern great club.

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
