Like most of you, I'm not a big fan of the bloke (Hi @Jaded No More, hi!!) but credit where it's due for Tom Hawkins who plays his 350th game today.

It's a remarkable feat, particularly for a big bloke like him.

Fun fact:  according to a write up in today's 'Age', Hawkins eats a whole packet of double-chocolate Tim Tams before each game, which is not a dietary regimen we normally associate with top level sportspeople.

Congratulations Tom.

Great player Hawkins. He’s one of the main reasons the cats have defied gravity for so long. He’ll be very hard to replace. I have to say though I won’t be sorry to see the back of him when he does hangs up his spurs.

Any substance to the reasons they are all out?

Ginnivan is a very average player. Tries the hard stuff too often, never does the simple stuff. Soft. Tragedy he got a medal last year. May was right.

tigs dropping lilke flies - balta out for 4-6 with an mcl and lynch needs surgery on a hamstring tendon injury

Rotten luck

if our players didn't get free kicks when they're clearly clobbered high like ginnivan is i would be ropeable

i know there's this perception that he 'ducks' into the tackle...but he's knee high to a grasshopper and constantly gets taken high through no real fault of his own

Cats have had a very soft draw to start the season.

Saints at Government Funded Park, an out of form Crows and the Hapless Hawks.

Next few games Bulldogs at neutral venue in Adelaide after having played their 2 weeks ago, North and possibly out of form Brisbane at the Gabba.

They then have some tests with Blues, Dees and Port (at Government Funded Park).

Am I the only one on here, that is quite enjoying Hawthorn's fall from grace

Just checked the fixture and disappointed to see we don't play Hawthorn twice this year.

Mitchell needs to be careful. 2 seasons in and serving up this dross won’t go down well with the faithful, rebuild or not.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
