You know what grinds my gears. HOw much the media was going to town on Oliver when he was in the pits, going through god knows what. Now that he has gotten through his 2nd game and is hopefully on the way back to the best version of himself, not a peep. No good story. Perhaps it is a little premature, but what about a little positive reinforcement from the industry to let him know that we are all happy to see him on the mend.

I’m delighted for Matty. He’s such a sweet kid, I love him. I know I say that about all the young kids but I have a soft spot for Matty since he helped me at the KB BBQ last year - and because we share the same birthday, a few years apart of course. Don’t anyone say a word! 😡

thats so nice even though you were born in different centuries

You might wanna Google puttanesca before you agree, 640. 🫣

Has Oliver ever played in a reserves/seconds game before? (Not counting last week's "match simulation")

His first season he definitely did. Since then I would say no.

It is embarrassing to find nothing about the Casey v Carlton practice game today on the MFC website.

In contrast on the CFC website there is a report and a video of the Carlton highlights including all 9 of their goals.

File under sad, but i'm about to watch the blues highlights.

It might knock some of my natural optimism out of me.

The Blues highlights are very well vetted, shows absolutely nothing good that the Casey/Melbourne players did.

Why it's am Italian alla puttanesca spaghetti sauce, see...Spaghetti alla Puttanesca is a traditional Italian pasta sauce made with tomato, olives, capers, anchovies and garlic.

The blues smashed us. We barely got a touch. Took one mark in 4 mins of highlights - and it was taken of us!

Yep, good pick up. Technically Jack is not in the bull category he is in the full on raging bull category lol.

With 4 bulls who all can play to a high level...... no ceiling.

Problem is the way the game is now being played, and where I see it going with concussion issues, bulls won't be as important.

It's now more about speed and kicking skills than anything else. Contested possessions aren't as important as they once were.

No surprise Carlton has better match coverage, it’s their home ground. Hope they share some footage at some point, would be good to at least see the goals. Main thing is: no injuries, no worries.

Haha - The name puttanesca is derived from the Italian word for “prostitute,” puttana. The dish was originally created as a quick and easy meal for the working women of Naples,

Hoping someone has a better memory than me, but in recent years, in our last practice match, did we only play a four-man interchange plus sub, regardless of the extended bench allowed by the AFL? I vaguely recall the three extra players (or however many it was, never got on the ground and were only there in case of injury. If so, I hope that's not the case tonight with the temperature 🥵. Can anyone enlighten?

If the Kolt only played a half, he may get a run!

and sell your soul to the devil?

Loving the overall positivity from the DL’ers today… very very nice to see! Some really positive signs, thanks Andy for helping get us info and pics etc — love your work as always!

— Love that Kolt was up and about, pulled at HT so we’ll see him tonight!

— I think Fullarton rucking all game is a HUGE footnote personally… terrific signs! Could be a R1 Smoky now for sure given fwd woes and McAdam 80% likely to miss..

— SURELY Clarry plays now, it’d be counterproductive to hold him back now and likely a slight kick in guts. I’d have him 85% likely at present since he says he’s pulled-up well.

— Seston dobbing 3 is another lovely song, kid can finish & I think he might be a player if he can cont to build an AFL tank & physique, he is def closing in on both!!! We need all the natural kickers & finishers we can get…

— Wrapped for Jeffo, have been a keen observer of his since pre-draft and think with Petty (if he stays), JVR & MJ we’re building a really unique, dynamic set of Key Fwds to them have mids and smalls play off of. Each brings something very different, JVR the leading, aerobic, natural talent, Petty the crafty strong hands with high IQ & Jeffo the mark at highest-point, Bean-pole with some panache & flair!!!

— TMAC an important depth defender

— Hore a natural fitting smart defender who adds something different & plays tall/small

— AMW cont to grow that 1-3% a week towards being an AFL player. Confident he’ll get there  and AGAIN is something different in his skill set, style & make-up to what we have in the smalls dept

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
