Date of Birth: 31 May, 2000 Height: 183cm Weight: 85kg Games MFC 2023: 23 Career Total: 74   Goals MFC 2023: 11 Career Total: 28 It isn’t easy to break into Melbourne’s midfield but Sparrow made the most of his opportunities and received more time there, especially after Clayton Oliver’s injury. He should be looking forward to further improvement and consolidating his place there in 2024.

I warmed to Tom Sparrow from day one and believe that 2024 will be his breakout year as 2023 was Trent Rivers. He has built a lot of trust within the team and is ready to take on greater responsibilities and I am looking forward to his continued rise within the team.

Love the guy - tough, strong and a booming kick (bang, bang, bang)

Can only get even better with time and maturity.

Go Tom.

Sparrow’s been hanging around the 16 possession mark a game over the last 2 years. Would like to see that increase to 20 next year, particularly given there may be an opening for more midfield minutes next year.

I would also like him to play more games like the St Kilda game at Marvel this year. 22 and 2 goals. If he can start doing that on a semi regular basis, he’s really going to elevate himself to a seriously good AFL player.

Underated and most valued!

That grand final goal! Never forget it. Huge kick off one step with three opponents streaming at him from all directions. What composure and what a powerful kick. The adrenaline was really flowing here. Love his toughness too.

He needs to improve this year since there are lots of players looking to get his job, this will be his 6th season and he needs to get his disposal count into the high 20's to retain his place.

Minor improvement this year I think which is encouraging but I'd like to see some bigger steps in 2024.

A solid contributor

Just looked again at the scene. FOUR opponents not three! I got the all directions right though.

I think he's right!

He played some of the best 5 minute games of football I've ever seen.

Tom has all the attributes to be a very good player, but is a rung or two below that level at present.

He has too many periods in games where he just goes completely missing, and then you find he has only had 12 or 15 touches for the match.

He has to be getting 20 plus touches on a regular basis, otherwise others will just go past him.
