The 2023 Table is updated for:

image.png.32fb827739162f2985c00e1babb94be6.png

  • Games played at start of 2024 season
  • New draftees
    • Caleb Windsor, a three year contract in line with new CBA
    • Koltyn Tholstrup a three year contract in line with the CBA
    • Kynan Brown as an A Rookie on a one year contract
  • Inclusions to be confirmed by the club:
    • Marty Hore as an A rookie (Supplementary List), assume a one year contract
    • Dan Turner on a two year contract
    • Andy Moniz-Wakefield rookie contract to be renewed

Therefore, there are no more list spots.  We have kept the 36/6/2 mix of senior/A rookie/ B rookie mix.

Potential milestones in the H & A season:

  • 50 games
    • Bowey
    • Chandler
  • 100 games
    • Rivers
    • Picket
    • Spargo
  • 200 games
    • Hunter
    • Petracca
    • Tomlinson
    • Viney

Key Senior Player signings for 2024 (imv):

Sparrow and Bowey are the major ones to sign up.  Langdon and Hunter will be re-signed.  Also Adams will likely get another contract as it is rare for recent draftees to not have at least one extension.   But a number of others may be encouraged to look elsewhere (eg Laurie, Schache, Smith and maybe Hunter) or retire (eg Brown, McDonald).

Other notes

I reckon Tholstrup will rapidly become a ‘cult hero’ especially among the young.  He has the swagger and the charisma to draw the crowds!!!  Looks like a fun loving kid.

For any contract changes from the club or posters during the off season I will update them all together in March.

Thank you Lucifers Hero very comprehensive and timely as per usual, I can relax now. Just one little thing is Kynan Brown not Tynan. Lol.!!

Thanks @Lucifers Hero for all your ongoing hard work. I'm sure I speak for a lot more than just myself in saying It's much appreciated.

Fritsch won’t be 31 at the end of his contract

Thank you all and others for your for support, it is much appreciated.

In the Chart I've added the Dees 2024 draft picks and made the corrections suggested.

I welcome further corrections or new player contract info and I'll make the changes in March as after today, I am giving myself a holiday from D'land for the off-season.

Thanks Lucifer for all the work.  Don't know if its my system but all the previous pages appear to have disappeared.

Thanks LH greatly appreciated I assure you, just noticed McAdam think he will be 30 end of 2025. Have a great break and look forward to any changes in March.👍💕

We definitely have a premiership list. Just hope we have better luck with injuries and the players keep their heads screwed on tight.

Dees can beat any side in the comp.

We had a mangled VFL standard forward line in the 2023 finals yet lost by only 7 and 2 points to the eventual premiers and bluebaggers.

Sickening stuff.

Thanks stinga!

By previous pages I assume you mean the 2023 Contracts Thread?  To locate it go back to my first post of this thread.  At the bottom of that post is a link (in the form of an image) to the 2023 thread.  Just click on the image and it will take  you to the thread.

Just for you 😊I have updated McAdam before signing off!

He has a 3 year contract expiring in 2026 so I have changed his age to 31.

The fact the club haven't formally announced the extension of AMW and the upgrade of Turner despite both players having known for some 5 weeks is big communication fail that we frankly deserve much better than.

Totally agree Dannyz every player deserves their time in the sunshine and due recognition. Also supporters need to be informed, the club can’t assume that we are all as informed as us Demonlanders are or as my old boss used to say assume makes an [censored] of you and me.!!

I can’t believe that [censored] is censored.!!

Ha ha ha ha…..!!!

This is my last demonland post.

As we all know demonland can be wonderfully addictive!  But I've decide to reduce my use of on-line forums, social media and Apps.

Can't tell you how much I've enjoyed my time on here over the years.  Thanks to everyone for your debate, support, laughs and banter, especially those I've got to know through messenger.

Wishing you all the very best.  Travel well, demonlanders.

To a 2024 Flag 🥂

Cheers,

Luci

Edit:  I've sent a copy of the Contracts Excel worksheet to Andy.  If anyone would like to volunteer to continue with it I'm sure he and demonlander's would apperciate it.  It is very easy to maintain; it is but a simple table.

have always had a spreadsheet of the list details, and helped keep it running years back, so I am happy to assist in keeping it up to date :)

Can’t you just take a break???? It doesn’t have to be forever. You KNOW you’ll miss us… eventually. And we’ll miss you - very much. 😢

edit: sorry M, that was spoilt brat me. Of course we should respect your decision to leave, as sad as that is. Thank you for your endlessly entertaining and informative posts. You’re one in a million. 💖

That is disappointing Luci as you have been a very good contributor to DL.

Hope you have a change of heart ,but in the meantime thanks for your posts and keep well.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons return to the MCG this time as the visiting team where they get another opportunity to put a dent into a team's top 8 placing when they take on the Hawks on Saturday afternoon. Who comes in and who goes out?
