He’s got talent. Might be getting a rookie chance this year or next.  Hope he stays at Casey next year but might seek some guaranteed games and higher $$$ in SANFL

Deakyn had a solid season and played most matches if not all of them yes?

Tough as they come.

Great result for him.

i thought Luke Dunstan was a certainty to win

Apparently his speech was the worst speech ever yet the funniest ever. It was alcohol-charged, expletive-laden and it went for 11 minutes 😂 Nigel Carmody was MC-ing and he walked off the stage shaking his head 🤣 Luke’s speech only ended because they took the mic from him. He simply would not stop talking 😂😂😂

I wonder how much connection there is between the Casey coaching panel and Melbourne when the player who is the first player to be delisted wins the B & F?

Of course it helps if you play every game in the season.

How did AMW go?

KC is there a disconnect between MFC and Casey Demons, there is nothing on our website regarding Casey B&F and it seems quite bizarre that the Winner is the only player delisted. Nothing on the VFL site last night as well?

Wilson7 I wasn’t aware that it was Casey’s B&F tonight. Nothing on the website.???

My boy wins it and is delisted. Still think he was hard done by.

Well done to Deakyn Smith but let's be honest, he is just a serviceable player even at VFL level. 15 touches and 2 tackles a game is hardly setting the world on fire. No wonder Casey finished mid-table if he and Steele were viewed as their best two players for the year.

You’re right DZ, nothing about it at all. I only knew it was happening because a few DA members are hardcore Casey fans and they attended last night and posted the progress of the tally in our WhatsApp chat.

Apparently no one was more surprised than Deaks himself.

This year was not a great one for the alliance. Mind you it wasn't that good for the VFL comp.

Hard to see it getting worse so I look forward to more "connection" next year

Thanks KC for your tireless efforts.

Yes there were probably a few who had better games at times but many did not mamage to stay on the park as long as Deak WC.

Regardless a wins a win and part of this game is about endurance.  Well done to the young lad.

Was surprised to see him delisted.

Thanks for your efforts also KC.

Dissappointing finish but much of that out of the hands of those who ponied up at the end without much back up.

I had a good long chat with him earlier this year. So polite and engaging. It made me sad to see him delisted since he spoke about how happy he is at the Club and how hard he’s trying to make it to the seniors.

Deakyn Smith. Must feel confused, a multi-award winning exit with recognition at both Casey and MFC. IMO has shown he has AFL attributes.  Deserves an opportunity elsewhere. It’s a hard game.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
