I'd like this scenario too actually. Rematches are always fun.

We had to do it in 1990 against Hawthorn. Won both games, but they were brutal and we had nothing else left in the tank.ย

What would make me laugh is if carlton beat GWS tmmrw and then go on and lose the elim to the dogs.

That's still one of my favourite finals wins. I was so scared that the mighty Hawks would roll us in the 2nd half but I was just a dumb little kid at the time.

In other news sure to stir the pot I'm happy to see Tex Walker take the lead in the Coleman. Gives us something to watch if our game is a dead rubber.

Gee, Tex is so good to watch when he's on.ย

9.4 tonight takes him to 76 goals for the season. Sam Taylor has a big job on Curnow tomorrow.

Some good players exiting West Coast in Hurn, Shuey and Nic Nat. All great to watch over the journey.

The game was on youtube a while ago

It is played at Grand Final pressureย

Curnow has not been held goalless all season and last time Carlton played GWS in Sydney, Curnow kicked 2 so I would say the odds are in Charlie's favour for Coleman Medal No. 2. He needs 1 goal to draw level with Tex, 2 goals to win it outright.

I hope he's kept goalless just quietly.

Same. I like Tex and Iโ€™d love to see him take it out instead of Charlie.ย

I could see it happen too. The Dogs have heaps of finals experience and are a different side in September. Carlton have started to dip and are finals virgins-so-to-speak.

One of the only times you'll find me barracking for Footscray.

It's been an awesome resurgence and I'll be happy to see him finally make the AA team. Was hard being a key forward in the time of Buddy, Hawkins, Jack R and Josh Kennedy but he's had s great career.

Such a shame the Croms have been denied Finals, purely because of AFL Pig Headed incompetenceย

Adelaide would be far more entertaining than Footscrayย

Brisbane faced a very determined St Kilda to day but the maggots ensured the Saints didn't really have any chance.

In so doing Brisbane, i think, have two consecutive home games.

I despise themย

Likewise. The umpiresโ€™ darlings from 2016-2022. Had almost 50 more free kicks to their opposition in the 2016 finals series, the Grand Final itself being the tip of the iceberg, especially in the last half when the game was on the line. The one Premiership I genuinely look back at and think, that wasnโ€™t just.

I would love the Dees to have such a goalkicking key forward.ย

Tex was very getable too at the end of 2022. No club wanted to touch him though for PR reasons after that incident which saw him banished and publicly shamed. We should have offered him a contract, he would have come knowing it was a more likely route to success in the final stages of his career.

It was cheatingย

That wouldnโ€™t happen.

The Dogs struggled to beat Geelongโ€™s VFL side last night.

It was probably only match fitness of Catโ€™s younger guys in the last quarter that gave Dogs the win.

They look an unhappy team.

Saints supporters would be barracking for us today.

If we win, theyโ€™ll get a home final in Melbourne.

If we lose, not only do they have to go to Sydney in week 1 (unless GWS win by 11 goals) theyโ€™ll also have to travel to the loser of Port or Brisbane in week 2.

How much would Port have to win by to take 2nd off Brisbane?

250 points me thinks.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didnโ€™t just beat Gold Coast โ€” they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharpย

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lionsโ€™ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Letโ€™s be honest, last weekโ€™s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper โ€” second versus seventeenth โ€” football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
