In for who though?

JJ. We don’t need an extra mid now Clarry is back.

Schache should ruck the second half to get him in the game.

I suspect we're giving him a chance to show up forward (Melksham's spot) but not showing much separation etc

Schache has no mongrel. You can’t play a key position role at AFL if you don’t have the physical desperation.
I think Grundy is a little bit the same. Too much of a nice guy. Needs a lot more agro!

Verrall - who looks a proper talent - should play forward to see how he goes.  If he can compete forward he’d almost be a crazy chance to play next week

Big Kyah has no place at this level, back to the talent league please

No he's not.

We've got him for another year as I recall and the senior forward line for next year is looking shaky. I hope they are at least trying to give him direction but my expectation level is low

Jimmy J I hope.

Really do appreciate the updates from everyone but I am so confused about what’s going on!

Carlton smacking Casey in the midfield.

A few Dees playing well, especially Spargo.

A lot of hopes were pinned on Sam Wiedeman I think.

So Petty, JVR and Jefferson are not AFL standard? Ok Jason Taylor tell me more

We’re not even having this conversation if Petty doesn’t get injured last week

Nothing all that exciting from the forwards so far but seeing McDonald moving well is encouraging.

I look at Tomlinson’s frame and agility and I’m curious to see what he could do forward: he’s kicked goals in the past but there’s no indication we have any interest in trying him.

Good to see Brown, Petty, and Jordan watching in the stands. Obviously Brown and Petty are injured but Jordan would know he’ll likely lose his spot next round. Full credit to those three for showing up.

We have forward depth, but it's not Goody's fault that we've been decimated with injury issues in that part of the ground. TMac, Fritsch, Brown and Petty have all spent time on the sidelines this season.

JVR and Jefferson are still raw but have promising futures.

I’d have him 30-1 to play at best. But we haven’t seen him up forward to know.

Obviously the tank isn’t there but he’s playing 50-60% ruck minutes and doing really well.

The bar to getting a game - play 50% up forward and don’t be completely terrible, has never been lower.

Yep... he was always one good game away...

I suspect that Casey (ladder wise) will fall off a cliff next year. They've been carried by White, Munro and Buntine who are all getting on. Throw in both Tomlinson and possibly Dunstan moving on and it's a quick spiral down

James Harmes is completely bereft of confidence. Everything he touches just turns to absolute crud.

Spargo has gotten better after starting poorly.

Great rundown tackled from Charlie Spargo. He's up and about, sniffing some AFL footy.

The cupboard has Ben Brown, TMac, Petty and Fritsch in it. The list has plenty of tall forward talent, the problem is injuries.

McDonald looks ok to me. Maybe another week at Casey. But I would play him in round 24.

McDonald tries a don't argue but isn't quite strong enough. I'd love to see him get out on a lead or in a marking contest. Unfortunately Casey's delivery is too poor for such luxuries.

And you could still see that then with him.

Beautiful coast to coast play.

Mark and goal to 'Starship' Jefferson.

Harmes loves a handball to his teammates feet

Been over using the HB all season.  Most of his kicks are up & unders as well.

Caught far too often attempting the fend offs.  Seems to have lost the bit of burst speed he once had.

He still has the work rate and effort but having a very ordinary season so far, mostly at Casey.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
