I didn't watch the cats dockers game, so not sure how poorly cats played.

But i can't see the cats losing twice in a row at home, particularly because port will struggle to come up after two weeks of intense footy and have to travel.

On rhe travel, interstate teams must hate playing at kp because they have to fly into tulla and then get in a bus for what, 75 mins, down to Geelong?

No Blicavs or Hawkins and an out of form Cameron doesn’t help the cause.
Aliir Aliir could still miss with delayed concussion?

Freo seems to be the only team that loves to play down there. Can’t quite figure that out.

Let’s see if the Lions bounce back against Freo.

If we finish 3rd we would play Port at Port right? We certainly didnt beat them and do seem to struggle over there. Last thing id want.

Hey Wadda. I think our record at AO is something like 10-5 with a steady five-goal average-winning-margin, including a 2011 last-round seven-point tank and neutral loss to Essendon this year (with another crucial neutral win over Brisbane in 2021). Under Goody's tenure, starting with the 2017 upset over the Crows, I think we're even better. Have faith my friend - woo-hoo!

These setups never end well for us.

They did in 2021. Everything fell into place for us in the final few rounds. Maybe a bit of history repeating 🤞

Reminds me of when I yelled out " Go Milney!" during the drawn 2010 GF.
Watching neutral games can be confusing to say the least.

In late 2021 the fine folks of Demonland said we should barrack for Essendon vs I can’t remember who because it helped our ladder position. As hard as it was, I did exactly that. But in the third quarter I caught myself whispering “come on Jake” when Stringer was lining up for goal. I realised it was only a matter of time before I’d be calling him “Jakey” so I immediately stopped barracking for them. One can only do so much for one’s team.

Had a multi on Geelong, Brisbane and Port. Got seriously burnt. I now can't even pick my nose.

Lions will maul freo.

I watched that game. They'll def miss Ashcroft, but my take is they simply didn't turn up. The suns did and, brought the heat, and the lions couldn't get going.

That they didn't come fully wound up is a bigger worry than not having Ashcroft. It's too late in the season for a genuine contender to be flat coming into any game. A bad sign

Same will be true I'd we don't bring it tommorow.

But i could not be more confident we will.

We will smash the tigers.

The local footy team I played for used the Richmond them song.
Once at a Melbourne Richmond game I found myself absent mindedly singing along to Tigerland.
The look of disgust from the 2 older cheersquad women beside me snapped me back to reality 😂

If Port don’t get a serious fine, that is a disgrace.

Also, I'm in a reasonably exotic part of the world, but won't name it to avoid humble-bragging. Nevertheless, this country seems to have its own woo-hoo bird.

See, this is the kind of negligence that will lead to payouts.

It's not about suspending someone who accidentally bumps someone high when competing for the footy (Hunter on Rozee for example) it's about following the correct protocols that have been put in place. It shouldn't even be in the clubs hands, the AFL should have an independent medic on hand at each game to do the assessment.

Watch the AFL do nothing about this, and yet continue to suspend players for accidental contact.

Gotta protect the brand 🙄

My take is it extremely difficult to back up after a game as intense and physical as last weeks pies port game - particularly if it is another high stakes, high pressure games

I mean, the evidence simply could not be clearer.

It's not that the pies, first and second on the ladder, lost. It's how they lost - both teams were gassed from the get go.

I wouldn't be writing port off on the back of that game.

That said i think it is a joke so many 'experts' had the top three - pies, port and lions - and the rest.

And I'm glad I've banged in about it. Peanuts everywhere in the media.

And on port - I didn't rate them in the top 3 prior to that game. So nothing had changed.

My one regret on the punting front is not backing the crows over 39.

Had the line and win bets covered, but should have had a nibble on the over 39 because that game was my best bet of the year. The crows were set for it. And as I expected port were gassed.

binman - as you know I always look forward to the podcast but I expect (regardless of tomorrow's result, which I expect will be a decent win) this one to be an absolute beauty.  Can't wait.  Cheers

To do nothing, the AFL would be taking its greatest ever risk in its history.

It is effing unbelievable. As Yze said, we will likely never see that again, from any team. Which is why we just need to barrack for our lads now - forget about the grumbling about skill errors etc, let’s just back them all the way.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
