CASEY: Rd 19 vs Williamstown

Umpire Nichols or his clone in attendance judging by that late free in the windsock pocket.

Jefferson is extremely clean below his knees and has some toe

Oliver just came out of Sauna and into rooms.

T Mac down here watching, along with Choco.

What about the fool that bounced the ball and the wind took it 3m outside the circle towards the Williamstown goal, play on.

They need to develop a game plan against the wind. I would've thought Casey to have plenty of experience in these conditions. Why no swarm of smalls handling and running the ball, with bigs giving the one, two's, playing in-front and expecting the ball to be all over the place.

Well done Jefferson with that last goal assist. Adams doing all right, and Hibbo into it no matter where he plays.

The ball will go over the back when we go forward with the wind.

Great goal by Spargypants. 20-40.

Brown hobbling, Grundy insignificant! Shacky ok

All the tall forwards we have and we're still bombing it long to spargo.

Not sure how we're expecting Grundy to improve his forward craft in these conditions. Sub-par skills are further impeded and he'll have to modify his gamestyle so much just to adjust to the wind alone.

Hmmm, I know it’s windy but got to say that whatever Grundy is doing is certainly nowhere near any forward craft or positioning as I remember playing it. Got to feel for him a bit I think. But he looks lost.

We won't be seeing Grundy back in the senior team anytime soon.

Looking completely lost up forward.

Experiment OVER! Either he Rucks or BUST

BBB looks like he is carrying a niggle.

No game plan, scrappy, Williams' playing better windy footy, we look like individuals.

Spargo good, Grundy hasn't got a leading pattern, very scrappy game, full of tackles, no stand outs for me.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
