Then again, they don’t build them smart over in SA.

Hope that doesn't apply to all of us Jaded :)

Doesn't sound ridiculous at all.

A good team, who have genuine leg speed, quality across all lines, potent forward line as evidenced by their crazy good percentage, a strong sytem dialled to run and carry like the pies and buy in.

They won't be as flat against us as  they have been for the last couple of games, and I expect them to be running on top of the ground on Sunday and present a real challenge.

My expectation is they will attack, and look to run at as with handball chains and wave running a la the pies.

If they can beat us or port next round, I think they’ll make the 8.

I don't think they'll beat us, but I reckon they're a huge chance of beating Port, as Port will struggle defensively with  the crows speed of ball movement from the back half (as do we if not on).

100 percent this. Nicks has done a great job at what was, a complete basket case. If they win a final, he's coach of the year IMHO.

Sloane has given his heart and soul to that club and has had some big personal off field tragedies to overcome at the same time.

The only guy who openly supported the camp and the positive impact it had on him. Heart and soul of AFC and ultimate clubman.

Those fans are scum and don't deserve him, hope he gets a late career trade and maybe a last shot at a flag.

After 26 pages!!

Still in ‘eat their own mood’!  Starting to realise they are playing the Dees which has done nothing to improve their mood.  Zero confidence in their midfield!!  And finally some humour!!

  • Gawn, Brayshaw, Petracca, Viney (Oliver injured) VS ROB, Keays, Crouch, Dawson (Laird injured).  The difference in quality is hilarious.
  • Regardless of how many clearances they win.. our midfield is garbage.
  • Anyone else get the feeling that this will be another Collingwood game whereby we play well, really well but lose?  I need help for my cynicism.
    • No we will lose comfortably.
  • We are due a win. Would be so Crows to win this week then get flogged in home Showdown.
  • I don't know why, but I've got a sneaky suspicion we might win this game
  • I feel sad already.
  • Crouch, Sloane, Keays for a CBA.... 🤮🤮🤮  Let that just sink in....
    • Crouch will get 40+ ineffective disposals
    • Sloane will give up directly 5+ goals.
    • Keays will kick every ball out of bounds
  • Melbourne midfield will start laughing at first bounce when they see Sloane and Mrouch rock up. Melbourne defenders busy laughing at Keays up forward.
  • Forward line still looks decent.
    • They'll need to make the most of the 20 inside 50s we'll get on Sunday!
  • Crouch trying to chase anyone, let alone Petracca... 🤮
  • Keays hopefully gets the job on Petracca .....he's their barometer, in Oliver's absence ....
    • Petracca to get 40 and 4 goals then.  Keays is not a good tagger.
  • Will be great having the worlds slowest and ****t@st midfield again Petrecca, Viney and Gawn…

My Favourite

  • They don't have their designated Crow killer playing Clayton Oliver! Who'se usually good for 38 disposals, 12 clearances and a couple goals against us.

Not only is their midfield ordinary they don't run both ways.  A weakened backline and poor upfield defence will starve their forwards of opportunities.  Dees by as big a margin as we want.

Disappointed there wasn’t a post about how we’ll crush them or about how overrated we are.

Andy, this is as close as they came to acknowledging the inevitable!

  • Think we will lose by 40 points.
  •  I was going to go on Sunday, but genuinely hope we get pumped by 100. * this club.
  • If we go down the path I think we are going to - in terms of selections, then I hope we get flogged.  I hope we get badly exposed and questions are asked.

The 40pt loss sounds about right.

As the Pregame thread is locked this might be a place to make game related posts for the next few hours.

Hopefully @Demonland doesn't mind.

I'll change the title

Oops. Didn't mean to lock the thread early. Set it to lock when the Game Day Thread opens and clicked the wrong button.

Sounds ridiculous but  I still rate the Crows. They run like scalded cats, have a decent midfield and sometimes an effective forward line. Sort of game where if we are slightly off we'll be licking our wounds. I reckon they are as good or better than the Don's, Freo and GWS and we know we fared against them...

It's their last gasp this round for them. I hope we start like  and finish like last week, with a lot more of it in between. It's probably a slow weekend but you should probably stop branding cats over it.

I much prefer these people have some confidence. Otherwise, what’s the fun in breaking someone’s will that’s already broken?

I checked again today...up to page 36 then and not a single additional post about the game...just navel gazing about their selections and list.  Oh, and how bad the coach is.

Maybe they will wake up when they see their 'Game Day' thread tomorrow..  I don't think I'll bother checking.

It's funny, I'm sure I've seen Ben Keays do a great job against us as some kind of particularly annoying tag & retaliation player, but based on Adelaide supporters' comments he'll spend the day two metres behind Rivers and thinking he's done his job.

Interesting that Crow supporters haven't noted how much time Petracca is spending up forward. If they're anxious about Crouch and Sloan being left in the dust by Petracca and Viney, they'll be crying when they realise they've been picked as the bunny team for Pickett to spend a chunk of time in the middle to find form!

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
