Dogs’ next 3 are Essendon, GWS, Richmond.

Are they in danger of missing the 8?

No, look at the rest of their games.

The Doggies getting a draw against the Hawks and then missing out on the 8 on percentage to Carlton [one can dream] 🙏😁

I know it’s a bit like saying what do you prefer, diarrhoea or vomit but I’m torn between who I want to win out of Essendon and Geelong (that will help us).  I’ll go for Essendon

I forgot there was a game  on tonight. Ive drunk a bottle of whisky here in Bangers.Who cares? Swans and doggies are muppets. Theyre not in Sept mix.  Who cares????

Go dees tomorrow or when-ever it is. I'm shizenhausened.

MFC is doIng OK.

I'm not sure I've ever given that too much thought Wodja, but I'd prefer a win to Geelong.  Take them away from Kardinia Park and Geelong will go to puss in finals from the bottom half of the 8.

Can’t handle Franklin or (?).

Franklin has been one of the greatest.

Amazing footballer to watch.

I don't get the dislike. I will miss his entertainment value.

Daisy Pearce “see ya at Franga”

😂

(Obviously) a great result for Melbourne tonight. I definitely want Essendon & GWS to win this weekend but don't think it will happen. Yes, Essendon are currently above Geelong but from a Melbourne perspective they're basically equal as I can't see Essendon's percentage getting above Melbourne's and Geelong's percentage is irreleant with the draw against the Swans. Why oh why couldn't the Swans have won that one as they should have?

Reluctantly I’d have to say Essendon too. I feel as though Geelong are making a genuine charge for top 4 due to their many games at GMHBA, albeit they have Brisbane and Collingwood away. A loss here would snuff that out.

Where as if Essendon somehow make the top 4 I don’t see them as any threat of doing anything nor are they probably ready to do anything.

(hopefully we go 5-2 to finish the season and the result will be academic)

Why? I don’t want the Dogs close to us

Because I’m sick of hearing about them and that they’re a mathematical chance….

How do you rate the finals he’s played in?

4th highest goal kicker and the one that really surprised me was 3rd highest contested mark in the game, he’s not somebody I think off when discussing contested marks. But for all of that he’s effectively the Brisbane Lions, dominates all year but goes missing when it counts. I was a fan of him in his younger years but his last few years at Sydney with regards to his carry on, always appealing for a free when he doesn’t mark it and then his decision to play on this season really confirmed to me what I had been thinking.

When discussing him after he retires everyone should be discussing his goals but also his performances in the big games.

Swans have lost 9 already and their run home has too many losable games. Take a miracle for them to make it. Lose in Perth next week and theyre done.

Not looking forward to Buddys last game in R24. Swans will put on a show for him and the umps will love him for it.

Could get ugly. Thanks Tricky Gill you  #%#&###!  Set us up beautifully. Any luck Buddy will miss with an injury? Unlikely.

Zorko misses alot of games but always gets up to play the dees. Jerk.

Not sure about all of that (ineffective finals player). Would have played in a few final series, and my guess his performance in those would be pretty good.

What I do know, is that I enjoyed watching him play. Recently, the match up on May was lovely, brought the best out of May.

The "carry on" for frees is right, but that doesn't tarnish him in my eyes. Thought it only happened in his twighlight years.

He is "box-office" for the game.

Port might be playing with fire here. If they are resting players and lose to the Blues they then have the Pies. Lose both they then have the Crows a 50/50 game always and then the cats at Pussyland. Might be a long shot but all of a sudden 2nd place is in play. ok I'm dreaming but resting players is one thing but 7 changes can back fire big time..

Watched the highlights of the Bulldog/Swan game and couldn't get over the number of 'throws' masquerading as 'handballs' in a passage in the First Quarter.

Maybe, if he doesn't want May to give him another bath in his last game

Buddy's apparently a week-to-week proposition but assuming he isn't significantly injured he'll definitely be playing R24 as it's likely his last game and at the SCG. They'll rest him against Adelaide in Adelaide the week before unless they're competing for Top 8 which I don't think they will be. I'm happy for Buddy to be playing because IMO they're a worse team with him in than out.

I don't think they're resting any players. 3 of 7 injured, Junior Rioli out for personal reasons, the other 3 omissions are Quinton Narkle, Ryan Burton & Sam Hayes. I do agree though that its brave to drop any players when you already have 4 outs. Surprised particularly that Burton is out given Trent McKenzies' injury.

This whole holding the ball/illegal disposal thing is a lottery. Half the time they say if the ball comes out in a tackle it's illegal disposal, the other half that's its been knocked out so play on. Almost an arbitrary call. They gave Treloar about as minute to spin a full 360 and choose the best handball option for the opening goal. I agree also some of these flick passes the Bulldogs specialise in are very doubtful.

Thought BBB's throw in the dying minutes against the Saints was a bit rich. Seems you just have to put a fist on the ball and make a two handed throw.

So many indiscretions going past the keeper.

Dissent, getting in the protected area when mark and free kick, moving when on the mark, marks off kicks less than 15 meters, holding the ball when player obviously just drops it when tackled and occasionally getting the free for holding the man (even though no legal disposal), whacks to head in marking contest, scragging at stoppages and mauls, sheparding when off the ball, tacklers holding the ball in under the tackled, blocking when team mate has marking position (we get away with it well).

Though, what would I know.

Oh yeah, the soft frees paid to a few elites and to particular clubs.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
