No issue with this but maybe the AFL could let one of the clubs without any of these games have it.

why? the afl is all about maximising revenue - these two times will get double the crowd of a north / footscray / st. kilda match-up

we're VERY lucky to now have two regular 'blockbuster' games in our calendar

Speaking of the Kings birthday weekend I see there will be no walk up tickets available only way in now will be to buy one of the reserved seats still left. Success has its down sides. A normal club membership no longer gets you a seat.  Oh thank you God for Kayo.

Instead of being your usual pessimistic self why don’t you upgrade your membership for one game and spend $28 to sit in a Melbourne only bay on level 1

biggest home and away game we’ve had since the 60s and you don’t want to be there

You do realise that it may not be a question of cost. Not everyone is comfortable around big crowds, especially as they get older.

I was talking with the better half about this the other day.  We moved up to NW Vic about 9 years ago so rarely get to games due to the travel and young kids.  Kayo has been the best investment I have ever made!

I was living in Melbourne from 2011-2014 (peak Melbourne period) and used to take comfort getting to games right at the start with a GA ticket knowing that I would nearly have a row to myself.

Its crazy (in a wonderful way) how far we have come.

What's even crazier is if we can keep winning - and the pies do also - are we a shot at the biggest ever H & A game for this match?  Could be top 2 teams which would be incredible!

Probably a bit rough here FTB.  I'd love to take my parents to more games but they really struggle now in such large crowds and would much rather watch from home.  I know a few others in the same boat.

In fairness to FTB ..old dee didn’t mention the above reasons he talked about not being able to “rock up” …

Well if those were the reasons mentioned I wouldn’t have said what I said. But they wernt, it is simply someone who is always so negative on this forum complaining again about not wanting to go to games. In this case, because everyone needs to reserve a seat. Nothing to do with anything else

The advancing Years have reduced my abilities FTB. Kayo for me at all big/ night games.

A very long time since that has happened. Great.

I notice the MCC is putting 4 rounds for sale on at the same time (Rounds 12-15) - a total of 7 games including Melb v Coll and Melb v Carlton and Carl v Ess

These people are complete idiots. It will be chaos, the  system will likely break again and fans will be left without tickets.

Ticketek are the most frustrating organisation on the planet next to the AFL.

We are supposed to buy tix for the Carl game and then the Coll game in two separate transactions. It will take hours to get online waiting for the start time and then get online to buy tix - twice.

If you are quick enough, you can buy tickets for the games in the same transaction normally.

Now this coins, is a hobby

do not expect these coins to inflate in value.  They are collectable but not to become extremely rare.

they will all be uncirculated there will be thousands of them   They will not be rare.

if anyone wants one in 10 years the dealers will gladly sell one .  For their small profit of course,

they do have 2023. And she is dead. So that’s different but they are not circulating coins.

Now if they put out circulation coins with a dead monarch  that’s a big different .

get them uncircumcised and you might be onto something  depending on how many they put out.

go Dees

Wrong thread. Too many thumbs

The Monarchy Holiday will be gone within ten years. Will they keep the day as a public holiday or move it?

Who knows

It now sits in or near to School holidays so they may look for another day to spread the economic benefit

Right then,

Uncirculated, perhaps? Otherwise, who, exactly is "putting out"? And what?

  • 2 weeks later...

So. I rang the club a week and a half ago and the staff member I talked to on the phone said the issue with Redleg guest passes was the GA sell out.

He told me he could hold 4 for me, I’ve tried to call yesterday and today and can’t get through at all.

Anyone else having the same issue?

I’ve actually just checked and I have 4 tickets marked “upgrade only” in my mobile membership area.

Which is curious as I’m not planning on asking mates to pay for a reserved seat they won’t be able to sit in!

… then why come on here complaining about not being able to just rock up on the day?

You seem to be complaining for complaining’s sake. Again.

Because you just breathe negativity, not sure I’ve ever seen you say anything nice about football or our club. Maybe you are a closet rugby lover.

Not sure why I am bothering but I suspect you are from the nothing is wrong brigade. There is an easy fix of course don’t read my comments that will make both of us happy.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
