Squads warming up, on Gosch's.

Spargo, Jordan, Bailey and TMac out there.

Fritta still doing his own program.

JvR looking happy, though keeping to himself a bit.

A fair bit of voice in their first drill. Lever's seems to dominate.

The banter between the players is also strong, as they niggle each other, and applaud those extra skilled acts.

The backline has split from the main group (who are goal kicking), Rivers, May, Lever, Max, D Turner and Hibbo.

The first are back into the sheds after 50 minutes.

Now the seconds are making their way out onto the paddock.

Max isn’t doing the goal kicking? 😳😳

How’s Salem going? In all the drills?

Do you have any clues as to why Fritta has been doing his own program? Seems like it’s been going on for weeks now.

Any standouts this week?

Are Kye Turner and Verall there doing rehab?

Thanks so much for your reports Kev! Love em!

Salem is not in the captain's run.

Yes, they are with the trainer, mainly lap and short runs. Verall seems to be building a stronger muscular body. Turner starting to do some skills work.

Hunter was the most vocal I had heard him.

Gus doing some spectaculars.

I would assume it is to lighten the load on his foot that he hurt in the preseason.

I interviewed Aaron vandenBerg a few years ago and he mentioned that he no longer or rarely trained during the week to manage and lighten the load on his injury prone feet. It was also one of the topics of the To Hell and Back doco series the Dees made a few years back.

Thanks Kev and all posters it’s great getting a feel of what is happening with the boys that are playing and those that are working their way back. JVR has probably had more attention this week than when he was recruited. Lol.!!!0

Exactly

Whilst Fritta has been fine this year, i have notice he doesn't look 100% just off a little.

Very important to our structure so hopefully just work load management and he will attack the back half of the year full tilt.

Second squad still out there.

Sim was 7 on 7.

A few fundamental mistakes, and Mark Williams was right onto them. Take those marks (Jefferson, Farris-White), hit those passes (D Smith).

Plenty of running after the sims, including laps as a pack.

Occasionally they are on their haunches.

Now some more sims.

Sestan is looking fit.

Salem is just keeping up, his skills are still great.

As they got more work into them the better their skills became.

Now they are doing long sprints to finish their session.

A few drop off from the sprints and do laps.

Five,  including Salem finish more sprints. Then everyone is running the boundary.

They are back to sprinting, with some dropping of to the laps.

Last sprinters are Salem and Adams.

Hard working, good session.

Impressed with Jed Adams’ development.

BBB has been going as hard as any of them. Really like that he is no longer doing his own program.

Does Jefferson look like he's put on any size since arriving at the club?

No, and his marking seems to be an off.

He seems to hunch a lot of the time. Maybe it’s just his body shape.

Hopefully another pre season will see him bigger and stronger and challenging for a senior spot.

I suspect its hard to put on a lot of size when you do so much cardio, You can only eat so much food a day!

Are we ever going to find out what is wrong Frittas foot? I know it was stepped on but perhaps there was something already there?

A toe perhaps?

Joel was possibly the best out there in the sims. Very focused, running well, looking for leads off the opponents blind spots.

My dream of Joel Smith dominating up forward in the ones is a step closer to reality!

Joel Smith dominating up forward, after about 9 years at the club, would have to be more than a dream.

Forward

Good guess, given Goody said in his Presser that they plan on persisting with Petty up forward for a few more weeks... (or words to that effect...)

Didn't see the presser.

Watched Petty do a fair bit of goal kicking, and working on his set shot process.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
