Club stated the AFL deal is a different event. And noted that the drink package included wines from our sponser Penfolds ( a couple of granges might ease the tension) anyhow get bitten once and you learn

Unlikely...if not there's always Uncle's stash!

If it were a Bentley I'm sure the shiraz would be well packed.  Can't risk a good shiraz!!

Benefit of doubt to DD:  'Bentleigh' is an auctocorrect problem...

It's gonna have an all-round very Manuka Oval type feel about it...

Any news if Oliver will be available?

Has been ruled out already.

Might be back next week. Might not be.

The Uncle Bitter convoy has arrived in the fair Hamlet of Burra on route to Alice.

The locals are very excited of course.

I'm currently enjoying a libation at "The Burra" and , I must say the dining facilities are very pleasant (albeit rustic)!

Tx Jaded. We've had some big names out on a consistent basis this year from round one. Hopefully the run of bad luck stops soon.

Most teams have had key players out during the season. We've managed our players OK.

NO bigee.

So cold up here it’s ridiculous and the forecast only gets worse…

Open clinic then training session Saturday for those that are here:

For those that want a special experience, head out to Santa Teresa (about an hour drive on road that goes past airport, 50km of dirt but can easily do in a 2wd for a 2.30 pm start at the grass oval there.

Hoping the overall experience provides some nice NoT$NoB$ vignettes (if not vins), Uncle - or any other B$Ters on the trek.

Not braggin’ - just sayin’- I’m about as far from the Alice as you can get- Gallipoli in southern 🇮🇹.

31 degrees here today, dropping to a low of 25 tonight. Your typical Alice weather I would have thought.

So I’ll be tuned in Sunday at 0720h listening and reading!

And ffs if ANB fumbles and it costs us a goal I’ll spew up!

Im doing catch up drinks, so no further communication tonight!

Any perversions to report to NoT$NoB$, UB? Your favourite tipple hard to come by up there? Or, if not, at least compromised by coming from the *shudder* fridge?

Just by way of curiosity....anyone have knowledge of how this field plays after so much rain ?

You might presume it drains quickly ....does it ?

Is Spargo named sub for this game?

If he is, don't think he's a great choice as his body type and skillet is limited to a certain role. Also even in his usual role his form hasn't been great so there's that too.

Man driving all that way is a great support effort. I hope we win just for that drive alone.

They had an excellent local shiraz at "The Burra" .

Overindulgence in which accounted for my late arrival in Coober Pedy.

Surely it has to be Melky, you want an impact player not a defensive limited skillet ( My new word of the week.... Skillet)

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
