It is an absolute disgrace that Members of all Clubs who pay close to $1000 a year per Membership, then have to deal with these shoddy faceless Ticketing call Centers (that is all they are)

The only way this farce will get fixed up is too bombard the Talkback shows on Radio with scathing reports. Big Companies hate it.

That said, Can MCC Members rock up to gate 2 and walk in?

Really don't understand most peoples frustrations.

Ticketek is perfectly easy to use unless its the Anzac Day onsite in the AFL reserve or finals where it can't deal with the traffic.

It is not difficult to locate your barcodes, enter them into Ticketek, login and select your seats.

Especially with how poor our ticket sales are for round 1. MCC reserved seating is barely touched.

Yes MCC members can, they still need to buy guns passes before though.

What's their reasoning that you can only buy tickets for reserved seats/guest passes up to round 3?

Good question. Why can't you buy non-reserved seats?

Question related to MCC only.

What? You now need a ticket to take your gun to the footy? What is the world coming to?

Lol, I think the typo is funny enough that I won’t edit my post 🤣

Both the afl reserve and mcc have this in place.

This was also the case for years before covid.

Typo aside, are you sure this is still the case? Last year you had to "buy" a free ticket so your card was active in order to get in (because of COVID and stuff) but it seems that is no longer necessary. All tickets are $10 now and seem to be just for reserving your seat. According to the MCC website, "Members will be able to reserve a seat on Levels 1, 2 and 4 of the Members’ Reserve via Ticketek. Any unallocated reserved seating will be made available as unreserved seating on the match day on a first-in, first-served basis, subject to capacity and availability". To me it sounds as though you can just walk in and find a seat if there are any still available without buying anything.

I'm one of the guys that project manages the build and deployment of this type of technology. Here are the underlying mindsets of organisations in change of these projects:

  • do it as cheap as possible
  • we trust no one on the project team, or inside our own organisation, and the default position is "we are being ripped-off"
  • we don't know anything about information system development, but we'll tell you how to do it
  • security concerns are a low priority
  • "what does the contract say" - refer bullet-point two.

It's downhill on one leg, blindfolded, with no poles.

Recently went to an A League match, it was the most recent Melbourne Derby. An hour before the game, the site crashed! There were 20k people who had purchased ticket forced to lineup while the ticket booths printed physical tickets. It was an absolute disgrace. They are both, Ticketek and Ticketmaster, completely incompetent organisations, but there are no other competitors. As another poster said, it’s a complete duopoly.

I’d hazard a guess that this is the reason that crowds were down over the last 2 seasons. The COVID complications and need to reserve seats are also factors. I’m equally interested in how the MCC changes to seating this year impacts crowd numbers. They are back to a walk up system, albeit a limited walk up. I believe many stayed away last year due to the hassle of having to reserve seats, particularly in the first half of the year.

I definitely booked guest tickets for Queen's birthday game before the season started the year covid began.

Quick question

On the mfc app My Membership section when I click view barcode on My Ticket it comes up with a grey screen.

Anyone know why there's no barcode for the game on Sat night?

TIA

I don’t think you have understood what I am saying.

MCC members can of course scan in, but if they want to bring a guest, the guest still needs a guest pass.

Thought they are meant to become available 24 hours before the game

Ok, that make sense. Thanks Beardy.

Interesting, if there's an issue and I need to contact the club to sort out, 24 hours before first bounce on Sat night doesn't fill me with confidence that it will be fixed

Originally it was 72 hours before the game but some weeks it seemed to be more like 48 hours beforehand.  It may depend on start time but not sure.

Why do you have to reserve a seat in a 100k stadium for H&A games ? Most games are played infront of crowds with many thousands of empty seats. Even docklands is rarely full.

Its a corporate scam like everything else. You have to pay for something you dont need.  FFS  if you want to get the best seats then arrive early on gameday and pay cash!

Obviously AFL doesnt like it because there isnt a commission buck in it for them and their corporate mates.

I cant stand McLacklan. He wont go away. He treats the public like  pesky peasants. A page right out the American corporate play book.

You don't have to reserve a seat.  If an mfc GA member or you buy a GA ticket at the gate you can sit in any unreserved part of the ground.

If you are an mfc GA member you can upgrade to a reserved seat for a small fee.  This is really only necessary when it is a big game or the GA seating is not to your liking.

Even Anzac EVe doesn't sell out so GA entry is likely to be in the top tier which suits some people.

I signed up with the 6 games for price of 3 membership on Thursday and the Melbourne membership hub shows an error when I click on round 1. I haven't used the new system so have no idea if this is normal or I should start panicking because rnd 1 is only a week away.

Not sure where this is?  Do you have a link?

It could be your info hasn't been loaded into the main system yet.  If you ordered a card it may take a while for that to be printed and mailed.

That aside, you may need to go back a few steps:

Have you download the mfc app?  If not do so, see: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/app .  If you have, log in via the app and see what appears.

There are a few more steps but will wait until you try the above.

No need to panic there is an mfc membership window between gates 3 and 4 on game day to help people with this stuff.

@AzzKikA

On the same screen as yours above, I see '1 ticket' in the bottom left corner of the first game.  When I tap it the next screen shows my membership and seating details.  I am a 'Redleg' members so may be different to yours.

I notice your screen doesn't show '1 Ticket' in the bottom left corner.  What do you see when you tap on the first game?

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
