I’m still amazed that this jive turkey is on AFL360, when Chief replaced him when he was ill, it was an absolute joy to watch, Gerard the host and the expert commentator from Chief.  Must be a hell of a lot of Winnie Blue smokers out there sending in love letters to Foxfooty to keep him relevant.

Fox Executive: Hey Tim Lane, wanna co-host a nightly program on the AFL

Tim: Would love too . . . how much?

Fox Executive: 50k sign-on, 200k/yr salary, 1 paid research assistant

Tim: Great, Done. BTW, who's the co-host

Fox Executive: S-Lobbo

Tim: Um . . . yeah/nah

Fox Executive picks up phone: Hey Gerard, wanna co-host a nightly program on the AFL

Gerard: Would love too . . . how much?

Fox Executive: You'll be hosting with s-lobbo

Gerard: That'll be 250K sign-on, 500K salary, 100K OH&S insurance plan, the world's biggest air vaporizer installed in the studio and membership of Al-Anon. Oh, and a social worker in place of a research assistant.

I really can't see how this would be a hard job for anyone to undertake - even S-lobbo.

The fact that this incoherent blabberer's ridiculous list is a talking point on every fan forum site in the country tells you everything you need to know about the newspapers motives for publishing it.

Robbo is trying to "crystal ball gaze" to the end of the season and it's clickbait to sell papers. It's a low-probability exercise that you'd hardly waste your time analysing or spending more than a minute discussing.

My crystal ball only says that Max Gawn will be much more influential than #27 and Dustin Martin will be nowhere near #7.

No idea how Curnow can be the #1 player in the league when he isn’t even the best player at Carlton

Yep and how Vomitous is Robbos sug GG estion

It's sad really. I think he's given up. He's lost sight of himself. Everyone thinks he's a fool so he plays the fool.

The whole industry is sad really. So many ex footballers out there who think they're comedians.

My pet hate is (obviously not an ex footballer) Andrew Gaze. Had a very decorated career and now has created a terrible caricature of himself as this over enthusiastic fool who thinks he's funny. Just too sad.

Sorry but Gaze has always been that way. Did a few b-ball clinics with him back in the day and he was a total larakin. Exactly as he "plays" now. He's just one of those guys that tries everything to make people smile.

Yeah fair enough, I shouldn't be knocking someone with that motive, that drive show on SEN with Andy Maher is really bad though.

Don't get me wrong he can be very cringe worthy

The wizard hat doesn't suit Robbo. The organ grinder hat is probably a better fit, and even then that's flattering.

The organ grinder is the Herald-Sun. Robbo is the monkey.

Love Gazey...Aussie legend, all around top bloke, family man and a great leader...

Everyone could learn a thing or two about how to be a good human from Andrew

Me too, was always a bit of a lad. One of the true good blokes of Aussie sport.

We all know that Oliver is the best player in the game...Robbo still hasn't figured it out.

He is struggling with what day it is.

I know Robbo's list is speculative essentially trying to predict who will be the Number 1 footballer by the end of this year. For Charlie Curnow to get there, I think there are at least three players ahead of him right now...at Carlton. I would put all of Cripps, Walsh and Weitering ahead of him and I could understand an argument that Harry McKay is ahead of him as well.

Curnow's going to have some year if he's going to be No. 1 by the end of season 2023.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
