A magnificent day weather wise for training...

A few snakes basking on the warm tracks perhaps

On a separate note one wonders how long it will be until some bright spark at the AFL (we can make money out of anything) comes up with a plan for charging fees to attend training. Going to "spring training" in baseball is big business.

I like the idea but I think you need to make it free to start with and make it an attraction and then bait and switch and start charging. Not sure how you do it at an open venue like Gosch’s.

Is it me, or has Woewodin bulked up significantly going off the instagram photos???

If anyone at Casey today? Starting to see SSP signings happen now so would be interested if there's any clues to that with us.

Williams said they have fixed cameras and the drone at Casey.  Do they have the same at Gosh's

Yes, cameras are attached to the new poles that hold up a net at each end of the paddock, and on a couple of light towers.

The drone has not been used much this preseason but it is brought out occasionally.

There were 4/5 assistant hovering around the computer screens under the awnings on Wednesday. The same ones that collect the gps tracking mechanisms attached to the players.

Yes. Didn't see a drone on Wed, probably not up because of rain. But have seen vision from it in the past

I noticed that as well, Dazzle. Given he's not overly quick, I wonder if this is wise. I'm no sports physio, though.

ANB also looking super fit with zero fat on him, like a greyhound

No, don't encourage this.

Why put me outside the fence. Already the price of finals tickets are leaving holes in my budget. A training ticket, why?

Elitist and their envy of each other. Why do you want this kind of world and the associated gaps amongst us? I am for equalising us, not dividing. I guess you like operating behind closed doors, so you feel closer to the inner circle, oh "you are the special one's".

Help the growth of the middle class, don't use them to fund a lifestyle of those holding the assets.

Footy clubs are about community and not a company.

If we need funding then get it from the asset hoaders, tax evaders, the traders and financier's, companies both public and private.

Stop living on the back of the workers.

Make footy and all forms of entertainment more accessible,  not less.

If not accessible, then the public funding of our sports and arts program becomes welfare for those who have plenty already.

It would be nice if the club could confirm next week’s training times and venues.

With schools returning in the following week, the next week could be the final opportunity to get the kids to a preseason session and if they are taking place at Casey which involves special arrangements for most of us because of the distances involved, plenty of advance notice would be helpful.

The official site has now been updated and the next advertised Training session is:

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times

Date: Wednesday 25 January
Time: 9:30am
Location: Gosch's Paddock

*Please note: There are no public undercover areas available at Gosch's Paddock so please come prepared for weather conditions. Training times and locations are subject to change at late notice.

I emailed the club today and they stated in their response that Wednesday was the only ‘open’ session next week.
From this vague communication, I will assume that both Monday and Friday will be at Casey and are classified as ‘closed’ sessions. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I can confirm Monday & Friday are both at Casey.

A few of us were lucky to get in today, as the gates were shut.  After being shut out for about half an hour they were kind enough to let us in.

No guarantees.

Thanks for that.

Being over from Perth, if a drive out Casey results in no access I’ll be [censored] [censored] off!

Righto, I’ve committed to making the journey to Casey tomorrow.
🤞🤞 they let me in.

Planning on going to Gosh's tomorrow morning, anyone know the best place to park with the tennis on?

You should be able to get a park easily on Alexandra Ave near Punt Rd if you arrive by 9am. Then walk over Morell pedestrian Bridge to Goschs. That's where I parked on Wed of last week

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
