😂 when can I “guess” where Cambodge is?

This frivolous thread went sideways with emotions and stuff. Original guess as to what I was before I became Skort:

A skirt and suit fashion ensemble, pronounced as a .portmanteau?

A small Namibian boat, pronounced something like ‘skoyt’ [censored] Elon Musk.

A deliberately bad transliteration of the word for crazy in Khmer: sh-goot?

A play on the words ‘skew-it?

Some or all of the above?

Couldn't have been the first (though 'skuit' did become 'skort'...); the word 'fashion' gave it away.

@Sir Why You Littleis paying homage to the Warner Brothers Cartoons i grew up watching (and still watch today!) I decided to Knight myself a few years ago, when Tony Abbott was throwing them around Willy Nilly

Still cannot believe that Abbott was Actually The Australian Prime Minister for a period of time. Sends shivers down my spine!!

I always read @goodwindees as Goodwin Dees up until about a week ago. Guessing it’s a little play on words or nothing to do with Simon at all now.

Reckon yours was a good get; you must have been quick(*)? Like the owner of the DEES21 numberplates.

Neither of those, EO.

Lyrics from a band called Mercury Rev (their name belies their music; they produce the sweetest songs not unlike The Flaming Lips). Also because I have a problem with indecision and oftentimes feel like it’s me fighting me,  hence civil war. 😁

Wow. There’s a band I haven’t thought of for a while. My old band toured with them back in 2001.

The infinity of the internet delivers again: on a slow Sunday (though I am just about to head off to my own very, very modest band practice...) I've just checked MR's 2001 very-much-world tour schedule. Impressive, Mel! And supports my earlier DL 'rich tapestry' observation 😀

This is such a mind-bending post. Did you just third person yourself? And 'why you little' I think most people would assume is a Simpsons' reference. I have a five-hour layover in Thailand soon, I think we should meet and discuss (can you please distract 'you know who).

We weren’t on the whole tour! Just the Aus shows. They were an interesting bunch. Not exactly what you’d call “down to earth”, but also not that difficult. Have got many a horror-story about touring with awful bands, but thankfully many more that have been great.

I think it was within 24 hours. There’s two of us floating around as @Nashermentioned. All good though, it’s only the best moment ever and all.

Here was me thinking Nasher was a big fan of my work knowing all my previous names before letting the cat out of the bag re. How to search for it.

It goes back a lot further than Homer. Although he was another great comedian (The First 8 Seasons especially)

Embarrassed to admit I’ve not read it. I have a copy of it. Just haven’t got around to starting it yet. Gotta finish War and Peace first. Not joking. It’s a [censored] slog.

Unrelated: didn’t know one can knight oneself.

“Abstemious”???!!! Would love to know the meaning behind that and your current name, BBO.

Abstemious… one of my favourite words since it contains all the vowels and they’re in order. Same as my friend whose surname is Alexiou.

As for @Bitter but optimistic, methinks it’s more a case of bitter and less so optimistic.😜

@Jaded No More  although she can sometimes still be a little jaded. I say that with affection. And I’m sure she would agree. 😘

I always thought Jaded was a person whose name was Jade D. I know she got married recently, so I just assumed she took Mr No More's name as hers.

She's actually one of my favourite posters with a nice mix of logic and passive aggressive (and sometimes downright aggressive, but never abusive) posts.

You didn’t watch Warner Brothers Cartoons?

At least 40 years before Homer and Monty

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
