exactly he was a liability in my view much better up forward  Brayshaw is a true defensive wing and wins his contests

I know we all love TMc and want him back but lets remember he was dropped this year not long before his injury.

Our game is now built to have one tall fwd  Would we change it for two tall fwds this late in the season?

We know that heading into the finals, team selection, cohesion etc relies on consistency and predictability.  We have deliberately changed to a smaller fwd line and it is starting to click despite the shortcomings of ball movement and i50 delivery.

Not sure TMc will make it back into the team nor we add another tall down there.

Do you have any evidence to support that he is a liability when he goes to the wing?  If so you need to send it to the club because he is still more often than not, the player that goes to the wing when JJ or Langdon are off the ground.

This forum is based on opinions that are generally supported by evidence. There's plenty of evidence to suggest that Spargo is a failure as a wingman, if you watch the games. 

The "the match committee knows better" argument is a load of rubbish. They don't always get it right.

Yet more proof that some supporters here have no idea of the match day roles players are given.  They want the forwards to play like Dunstall and Lockett in the 80's and the wingmen to play like Matera in the 90's.  It's 2022, football has evolved and for the most part, we have no idea of what the KPI's are for most players on the ground.

I agree. Also Tmac is a slow starter after injuries.

We are playing 1 key forward only because we only have 1 that can play the position.  And some would argue that Brown has underperformed anyway (I disagree as I don't expect Brown to be able to consistently beat 2 or 3 opponents whilst trying to mark long bombs)

We are now at a point where we are asking Brown to sometimes go up with one arm to tap it down to the front & centre area (unless he is doing that under his own volition)

One of the reasons we haven't performed as well this season is T-Mac not being available (and firing) Our structure up forward has been easier to counter

2 KPF's, a 3rd forward (Fritsch) and a resting ruck was our make-up last year and it worked well.  Melksham has hit a bit of form so he makes up for the shortfall somewhat but we need him to maintain that form.  Fritsch, Gawn & Brown need to get amongst it tonight as well.  We at least need 2 or 3 of the 4 players (in total) to fire as Brisbane could be expected to score 12 or 13 goals goals on their home deck

They've got 3 talls that could prove to be difficult to curtail.  They (the Lions) won't be the same easy-beats we encountered 2 months ago

No I want wing men to at least half their contests! Not so interested in KPI's as we will never know what they are for indiviguals

I'm not against Spargo only where is is played for greater effectiveness

May not be but I think Spargo himself would know that he had an ordinary game. There were two efforts by him that really stuck out in my mind. In quick succession he had two opportunities to put pressure on the ball carrier on the wing near the boundary line. Instead he was easily brushed off. I remember one led to a direct goal.

Our forward line has been deliberately crowded all season (by opposition teams) and our counter measure has been to outnumber the opposition in their forward lines. 

To not do that would leave opposition forward lines open with a lot of 1 on 1's  in open space

But Brisbane don't play that style. They aren't a total defence team nor do they flood back as a matter of course.  They back their style to beat the other teams

So in a way, we know what we are getting from Brisbane.  However, if they are allowed to play their style they can beat us especially if they can move the ball into their forward line at speed

I agree with a few others, Harmes to go to Neale and maybe Brayshaw back to the wing in a defensive style

But I reckon we need to more than match them out of the middle and at the stoppages.  If their midfielders can move the ball quickly to their 3 tall forwards and crumbers, they'll be a handful tonight

Can run all day and still perform when exhausted. 

Usually a good kick, has the capacity to pop up when is needed and will take it on when it is his time.

Loads of potential as he learns to position himself well and deliver the ball to advantage. 

He is learning from Oliver, Trac, Brayshaw and Viney.

Very impressive package, if you ask me. Develop, develop, let loose!

I think so too. Gus to the wing and back Sparrow in for some minutes in the middle.
