We are going to get a bit of reality check tonight I think.

Not sure where everyone is getting their confidence from but we have played 1 great game in 7 weeks against the Lions and patches of ok against the Crows and Power.

Pressure and clearance has been our vulnerability, and these are the two things you need to beat the Doggies.

I hope the boys watched the Tigers last night, because that was an epic display of effort and pressure.

The Dogs were belted in 2 of their last 3 games - why do you have so little confidence in us?

MFCSS

Can someone clarify the new interpretation of the duck/drop knees/arm shrugs, when tackled high.

Did they say if that action happens then it is considered prior opportunity?

Port were 8-3 prior to last week and had one of their strongest line ups all season, so off the back of a solid Demon win, Dogs one win against flakey Saints and we’re struggling with Petty & Oliver coming back in!

Demons to do the business against the Dogs tonight!

I reckon we win but I would love Big Maxy to get back to dominating and Jacko plays his heart out. To win the small forwards have to kick about 10 between them.

The main reason is that our form is not anywhere it needs to be. Our pressure has been down all season not just the last 7 weeks. Pressure the Dogs and we can beat them. if not they’ll get their handball game going and carve is up.

Our forward 50 connection hasn’t been existent for the the whole year and now we are missing our two KPF and have to rely on Weid that has failed to meet any expectation in the AFL repeatedly over the last number of years. So the slow ball movement will allow Dogs to flood and Weid will have no chance.

Our game plan has also been found out and the coaches have no real plan B that we have seen. They will exploit our zoning probably by tagging one of May or Lever this will lead to the predictable rebound.

Both of our big men have been pretty poor since the bye and we are fumbly in the back half. English is getting better and I think will outrun Maxy. LJ is not impacting the game either.

I can keep going but you get the point. yes there are positives and I do see that but am highlighting the reasons why I don’t think we can get up tonight.

I think for us to win today Max needs to get back to his contested making best and our clearance numbers get back to at least par. We can get the goals from a spread of everyone, we just need to lock the ball in to get the likes of Petracca, Sparrow, and JJ getting looks at goal while our small forwards can provide 4-5 between them. I expect they’ll put a lot of work into Fritta today so if Weid can jag a couple that will go a long way to getting the win.

Let’s see a performance like vs Brisbane!

You don't worry about our forward line kicking enough goals Dr.? Not sure that Kosi can repeat his effort of last week.

Which one for the sub?

Personally I’d go with Tommo, for tall coverage. I can see them going with Bedford though.

3 of the games we lost, mid-game we lost 2-3 of our key talls, and Trac was crook so a man down. Then we stopped to a walk in the last quarter in each of those games due to loading.
Swans got us with 2 free gift goals in the last 5 mins and 5 free goals for the match, and Pies got away in last 5 mins. Freo ripped us in 2nd half using height mismatch.

Geelong got us in their GF at Kardinia Park!

While probably only a qtr against Giants and Saints and most of Lions match, we’ve showed something approaching our best. Don’t underestimate last weeks win against Port.
We have another gear to find, but we aren’t that far off clicking. When you listen to Goodwin and Yze they are very confident we are on the right track.

Dogs might get us tonight, as this is one of the most important games of the season for them, but no Daniels or Duryea, seems like a big advantage to us. Pity BBB missing, but chance for one of our other forwards to step up. Still expecting us to win off the back of much superior defence and better midfield!

Go Demons!!

It’s a worry but against Brisbane our forwards kicked 8 of our 16 goals, we are at our best when we have a spread of goal kickers.

Crazy that despite all that we are equal first and they are 9th 🤔

I get it, there is a way the Dogs beat us but Jesus Christ have some faith.

Max needs a big one, still doesn't seem quite right but with time he'll get it back.

No. We kicked 16 goals against Brisbane and only one from Brown. We generally have a spread of goalkickers, it is rare we have one player kicking a bag.

Bedford sub and Tommo in for Lever?

Raise the confidence or we're on the plane, it's that simple.

I’m guessing his ‘bits’ have been photoshopped out. Either that or he’s masking the discomfort (again, I’m guessing) of having said bits well tucked in.

So many said the same thing last week about how Port were on an 8-3 run and we were struggling.

It's a bit rich to say you need pressure and clearance to beat the Dogs. We will beat everyone if we bring our best clearance and pressure game. The positive from last week is that we won despite not being able to get on top in clearances. We found another way.

And I really hope we're aiming higher than the Tigers who are 0-1-2 in their last three weeks with their season on the line.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
