It sounds great but also sounds like that deal likely has more $$ sitting in that last year than we would likely afford. I can see other teams as mentioned above having much more ease to accommodate and more want for the pick. I just like him as a player and would fit a 22 need in my view.

No we have the want for pick 7, absolutely.

Delist Melk, Hibbo and Baker and we would be well ahead on salary cap space taking Bowes ,

Hunt and Tomlinson could leave and that's a heap more.

I hope we are in this up to our eyeballs.

My stuff of fantasies trade:

Go after GC pick 7,  trade Future first and Bedford for Pick 7.

Then trade Pick 7 And Jackson to WC for Pick 2, Future First and Pick 20

Out: late first rounder, Bedford, Jackson

In: Pick 2(use on Cadmann?), an early 2023 Pick and pick 20

It won't happen as I think the dees will try get Jackson to Freo. And I think Pick 7 is only on the table with Bowes.

We've offered Melksham and Hibberd deals though. You don't renege on those now.

Well, they should have waited to see the landscape. If Melk and Hibbo got better offers, then so be it.

IMO a mistake.

Apparently WC interested in Hunt, so maybe him instead of Bedford and ask for an additional future third round pick too

Who is playing on Papley and Cameron next year if it's not Hibberd?

Saw Rendell mentioned Cam Rayner as a possible trade, in my opinion he’s a type of player we lack.

I love Spargo as much as anyone but Rayner on his flank would be a serious upgrade

I also acknowledge it won’t happen

Yup,  he would be great on the HFF swapping with Petracca.  IMO he has the tools to be alot like Petracca,  and maybe a big off season following trac could do it.

But also agree it's stuff of fantasies to get that deal done

And that seems to suggest we are not really in play for anyone other than Grundy.

GNF was saying that we were in discussion with a big name contracted player. I doubt that's the case, or the discussions went nowhere.

Have the offered contracts??  Like surely those deals get done and announced straight away.  Unless they are waiting to see player movement's and if they are required!

I’m not sure we have yet. It has been reported repeatedly that we WILL offer them one year deals but there has been no official announcement that it has happened. TBH there has been very little in the way of actual announcements. My sense is that there are a lot of possibilities in the wind and we are keeping our power dry until we can see hire this might play out.

I disagree. I reckon we'll have cap space for an FA or a big fish, but GNF literally takes what he's heard on Demonland and repackages it as his own inside intel. He's been doing it for years.

Where did the Melksham and Hibberd contract extension rumour start? Cant see anything official.

Would suggest Melk and Hibbo deals are lower than before, bringing more cap space anyway. If hunt goes it will be as anFA not a trade deal, so we would get compo back (maybe 2nd round at best).  Bowes then an option for us, taking 7 and his contract.

Same logic applies to Grundy = what do they give us to take him off their books?  Reckon they have a heap of pressure on their cap and 3 new contracts at least to include.

He's a UFA

Ahh ok,  yeh we will take the compo then I guess

There is nothing official. All the media sites just report each other’s rumours so take everything with a grain of salt. Both afl site and SEN have reported that we will extend hibbo and Melksham by 1 year. No source given in either case.

FITP it's "powder dry" typo error obviously!
Hope you are right I can't see one reason for us to be quiet We need SIX new AFL standard players thanks to highly conservative selection policy. ( that's being nice really)

Hibberd deserves an extension, Melksham not so much.

We definetly have cap room just by the nature of the fact that we got a number of players who in the next 12 months could be out the door and wouldn't be a big miss.

Time perhaps to really be hard team and probably both off the list for you get talent.

Perhaps the same bloke we use if he is injured and in the years to follow.

That's J.Smith if J.Hunt is gone.  Hopefully he's not injured too ...

Wouldn't mind at the club making an offer to Jack Bowes, he has a lot of what we're missing and he's in a great age bracket.

I think there's a position for him to play wing with his ball use, composure and clean hands being a strength and he's got good height and is strong above his head so folding back to intercept ala Gus is no issue.

These are the moves I wish the club would make.

Harmes and Jordon on a wing just does my head in. We just simply need to add some other components to our midfield mix.

What's wrong with JJ in our midfield and Harmesy tagging

I would love to have seen Toby tried on a hbf, with his pace and line breaking, like the highly successful Daniel Rioli move.

Who  are you referring to ? Hibbo was not injured IMO at the end of the season. Plenty of other defenders had injury riddled seasons  or did notrecover from injury properly or were played too early ie Salem Rivers Lever for example.

Nice idea, worth a try,,  we certainly need more run off half back.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
