Is Bedford best 22?

Is Weideman best 22?

Are we better with 3 talls or 4 up forward?

B: Lever, May, Hibberd

HB: Salem, Petty, Brayshaw

C: Langdon, Petracca, Jordon

HF: Neal-Bullen, Jackson, Pickett

F: Fritsch, McDonald, Spargo

IC: Bowey, Harmes, Sparrow, Bedford

SUB: Rivers

Casey

B: D.Smith, Turner, J.Smith

HB: Hunt, Tomlinson, Rivers

C: Howes, Dunstan, Baker

HF: Melksham, van Rooyen, Chandler

F: Moniz-Wakefield, B.Brown, M.Brown

FOLL: Weideman, Laurie, White

IC: McVee, Rosman, Daw, Woewodin, Munro

Looking at the list Hunt, Melksham and Baker might be delisted at the end of the year along with rookies Mitch.Brown and Daw. I think the 5 types of players we should pick up are 1. A Key forward, 2 A ruckman 3 inside mid,4 a key backman 5 outside mid.

Going out on a limb there WerriDee. So we need one of each a forward,  back,  inside mid, outside mid and a ruckman. Bold.

Baker won't be delisted. He might ask for a trade but he's solid depth

Hunt.... delisted (what can one say)

The others will retire as Majak already has

Well, we just had a ten goal win over the ladder leaders and there were really only a couple of players who exceeded what we might reasonably expect of them on a weekly basis.

Sorry Gawny. I think Freo are looking for a new ruck if you'd consider moving west.

Hunt will be a free agent. He might want to go somewhere else. I think Baker will be delisted remember we have to create 3 spots. Majak is a rookie so he doesn't count as those 3. Melksham will probably retire the rest are young kids doubt they will be delisted.

1 of everything very bold.

I think we will find out more before the end of the season, but as it stands, our best 22 is probably our premiership team minus Rivers, with Gus at half back and Jordan on the wing. Medi-sub could be a toss up of a few players.

Having said that, would love to see Bedford slot in there somewhere, it is just difficult to see where unless we are committed to going with a small forward line heading into finals. Kid deserves a good run at it!

I'd love to see Bedford in our best 22 but that would mean dropping B.Brown or McDonald. Thank god I'm not a selector choosing between a small in Bedford or talls in B.Brown and McDonald.

I think the team that played last week is getting pretty close. Obviously with Gawn in for Weideman. A Fit Tom McDonald is a no brainer too, probably at the expense of Bedford who would be sub. On form I'd toss a coin between Spargo and Bedford though.

What I loved about Bedfords game last week was that he backed himself when close to goals, and was happy to kick to space and let Kossie go to work. Both of these aspects have been lacking in our team during the run of 3 losses. We've butchered attacking play by trying to be way too unselfish in the f50 and we've been safe and predictable in our attacking ball movement. Bedford changed that.

Ben Brown is crucial to our tilt at another flag and although not playing anything like he did did in 2021 is a must IMO!

B: May, Lever, Hibberd*

HB: Bowey, Petty, Salem

C: Brayshaw, Petracca, Langdon

R/F: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

HF: Pickett*, McDonald, Harmes

F: ANB*, Brown, Fritsch

I: Spargo*, Jackson, Sparrow*, Rivers*

You’re only as good as your bottom 6. Above is our GF team and the * represents my view on them. When these guys play well we dominate. Hunt would be included.

If T Mac doesn't make it back in time for finals, I think it will be last Thursday night's team with the slight adjustment:

IN  - Gawn

Out - Bedford to sub. Hunt from sub to nothing.

I think Weideman will stay in as the club has been on record as stating that they want two key forwards and a resting ruck in their forward setup. However, the ball is in Weid's court and if he doesn't perform over the next couple of weeks then we'll have no choice but to go smaller i.e. - Bedford.

I think everyone else is a lock.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
