I want Mark as coach .

after talking to him at the past two family days l belive he would be our best bet.

he would be cheaper then others with names has been head of sandy .

has made Bartrum Dunn and the young ones good footballers.

has done more then oter coachs around in the VFL with 3 flags .

he knows the list better then any other.

Players know him and respect him.

and any other coach that is free at the end of the season is not worth having.

so join me in getting the members heard .

lets speak out and let the club no who and what we want.

for we the members are the bosses at the club the answer to us.

they know this with out us their is no club.

but we all love the club so lets get the ball rolling.

if N.D won the flag this year l still want him gone.

it not the boys club but the members club.

so sign up with me and let the club Know what we think.

;):) :D

Whilst I agree with your enthusiasm for Mark W , as far as I know Bartram has never played at Sandy.

He is a very positive man - always encouraging at the huddles, even if things are not going 100%, but on the other hand takes no nonsense and doesn't make lame excuses.

There's a lot to be said for backing a winning horse.

Good luck follows some and eludes others.

Must be given serious consideration...Daniher has

laid a good foundation.

ok he has laid a good foundation l agree .

but can he build the rest on his own or is it time to call on some one with no how.

Brentnall...you have more no how than I have ever seen in a mere mortal in all my years as a no all!

mate what is your answer to this.

lm just asking for other members thoughts. and letting you no mine.

lm not a no it all but some one that bleeds red and blue.

l love the team and want to see a flag .

my old man is a doggs person who has seen a flag he might of been 5 but he saw it.

lm 33 and want one just like everyone else.

before l die.

is that so bad really just like you .

Grant Thomas will never coach again or be involved with another football club!

His commentating has been humorous - there has been some slight tinkering with the game plan... umm, that they are accountable, they flood and play men behind the ball, they tackle??

The issue is do we go for a tried and tested coach or do we again go for an assistant, someone that has been in the system?

I would like to see Neale succeed but so far this year I have not seen any improvement from the players, Nathan Jones and Daniel Bell excluded, and the game plan does not suit the players being picked. His coaching on game day is also something that has not improved over the years!!

I was being serious. I rate thomas as a coach and he would play more of our young players setting up a future for when neitz and white are gone. I think he is a good coach to be honest

That is exactly what has been frustrating me recently. I couldn't believe that he tried going with geelong in an open free-flowing game even though he didn't think we were good enough to do that. Then the media said he was almost apoligising for shutting the game down in the second half. You play to WIN, you don't play to look pretty! When we have a near full team on the park you can play to look pretty (and win) but with the team we have at the moment only an idiot would try a free-flowing game.

Plus he has been wasting Bruce who is just about our only in-form player --> Put him ON THE BALL and rest him at full forward. Not flanks, not wing (although this week I suspect he may play on Tarrant or Pav at CHB which is ok given we don't have a CHB this week - why did we drop both holland AND Ferg???)

He has to go.

He'd be ok, but as far as I'm concerned a good VFL coach who's proven only that he can win flags with the best VFL/AFL affiliate is only an ok proposition. It really depends on what direction the club takes. If they sack ND, then recruit a Laidley/Clarko type to be a caretaker coach just to develop the list, then that's ok and I don't care who coaches as long as they know how to recruit and blood players. But if we're serious about a flag within the contract period of whoever we recruit in the next 3-5 years then it has to be someone with a better pedigree. Sorry. Nothing against Mark, but this is no time to make a punt.

Oh. Sorry. Was only taking the [censored] Occo, and I thought you were too, so disregard that last post of mine...

Right, now that that's done, I'm concerned for you. Thomas was one of the worst coaches in recent years. And don't even think about quoting his record of prelims and stuff. He underachieved.

Best case scenario is that he does a Balme and takes a role in some club's footy department, but that's unlikely since he's a proud man and is well known for his religious love of the Saints. The man will never be a senior coach again...

Why can't he be serious?

ND has been Coach for ~10 years - plenty of time to get a feel for what he's like and see his performance over a long period of time.

If Melbourne pull a Steven Bradbury it won't transform ND into a better or worse Coach.

Right, now that that's done, I'm concerned for you. Thomas was one of the worst coaches in recent years. And don't even think about quoting his record of prelims and stuff. He underachieved.

St. Kilda were overrated IMHO.

I also don't see why successful coaches at VFL affiliate level are only 'okay' at best. The principles (managing football department staff, getting the best out of your players, building a list, and making match-day moves) are the same. I would imagine that having some 'Head Coach' credentials at an affiliate would be more helpful than being an AFL assistant Coach in many ways.

I think you misunderstood me, probably my fault. What I mean to say is that what I know about rating coaches is next to useless. From my vantage point I can see little that would effect anyone's decision to hire or not to hire a coach. When I said he's only "OK" at best, I meant that he's only an OK prospect. At best he could be the next Sheedy, but then so could a lot of guys. The only thing I can go on, really, is what has stood the test of time. Hiring a proven coach who's won multiple flags is ALWAYS going to be preferable to hiring an unknown. But then there's two other things I KNOW from my vantage point. A) The demons list is such that even a great coach would struggle to get them into a GF. B) The demons financial position and facilities are below par. This means that the only coaches we could entice to the club would be promising, but risky prospects, like Williams, Mitchell, Longmire, Voss, Lyon etc etc. Or caretaker coaches who have little real flag-winning potential like Laidley, Clarko and Brittain. Look, I have nothing against Mark Williams, we could do worse. But he's not Matthews, Sheedy, Pagan. At least not yet, and there's no concrete evidence that he will be. Hence the term "OK."

I disagree that he was garbage but anyway

Fair enough.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
