Only solution is buy a subscription and to hell with 7/ AFL. Of course that is probably what they want anyway.

Channel 7 would probably prefer the eyeballs from Demons games = ads. Especially with all the goals we kick!!!oneoneno111 #amirite

Foxtel would obviously prefer you subscribe. Still a good deal (I'm on Telstra's $10/m deal until mid 2023). All of the golf majors which aren't on FTA, on Foxtel. Cycling too.

The AFL doesn't care, as long as they maximise their broadcast revenue.

The jumper clash will be bad on Saturday.

I wouldn't have thought so. There's a lot of red in ours.

Also, we'll be the ones with the ball. The others will be chasing.

The basic Kayo subscription is $25 per month for one stream. The premium is $35 for three streams. The streams can be on any devices.

I've got the premium with my two adult children, so we just organise to pay ~$11.67 each between us.

Correct, I am well aware that the AFL don't care their major concern is cash from media rights. All else is running a bad last. I get the sad feeling that in the new rights deal  the FTA network will get less than 7 in this deal. Only the casual viewer / poor will be watching their team infrequently on FTA.

You get the money out of them? My experience is get them to open the account and I will give you my share. The reverse sees me paying most months with “ oh sorry dad I will send you the money later today” if it works for you then you have my admiration mauriesy.

Like you Old I got burnt so many times that I reversed engineered it and got one of my kids to set the account up and I pay them my $11.67 😀

if you had the free Kayo sub whilst a Telstra mobile customer, and converted to a Kayo account, you were on $5 / mo for I think 12 months and they've extended the $10/mo for an extra I think 1 year.

The purported Paramount+/Ten deal would see I think only 2 FTA games/week? Someone feel free to correct me

Every match in AFL is on the Commonwealth anti siphoning rules

Can't see a Government allowing  7 of 9 games to go behind a paywall but who knows

No one knows. Pure conjecture if you have read that somewhere.

Happy to be wrong with this, I checked FTA channel 7 for our game on the weekend and we are not being broadcast. The premiers and not seen again on FTA for two weeks in a row. Why bother with FTA get a subscription and get every game. So much for sponsors getting more coverage. Yes I know we playing the last team on the ladder.

In fairness, only 3 out of 9 games are televised on FTA most weeks so the odds are high that we're going to have quite a few weeks on Foxtel.

Although 5 weeks in a row is quite stiff.

So how come some games are not available FTA.

You need Govt approval to depart from the list.

It is often given if the package is "right"

For example the Govt approved Cricket Australia's request for ALL ODI's involving Australia going behind the Foxtel paywall as of end 2021.

The anomaly is that digital streaming is outside the rules. It only applies to cable. Notwithstanding you'd be a brave code to breach the spirit of the rules without a nod from Govt

In: A 3rd win in a row against the poos. (15 to go to get these bastards back!)

Out: Who Cares! 3 more until we break our longest winning streak against  the pies on QB!!

Doesn’t seem to apply to the Dogs

Just jumped through some hoops to shut down my Kayo account, because I'm currently overseas. It inspired me to close my Amazon and Uber Pass accounts as well, and then remembered that I also had some sub-accounts through Amazon - none of which I have used for over six months. All in, I think I have thrown over $500 against the wall, because I'm socio-economically stupid and lazy. It's the old gym membership play. I think there should be some law against it.

why humans have pom-poms on their beanies? Like what's the function and when did it become a thing?

Must say I normally cut them off but you are right it is one of life's biggest mysteries

Pom-poms are purely ornamental.

During WW2 when there was a dearth of pretty much everything - in this case ready-made clothes - women would knit garments since wool was cheap and relatively accessible. Further, knitted garments, when no longer serviceable, could be *unknitted, in a manner of speaking.

Not wanting to waste anything, leftover wool was used to make pom-poms. Two reasons: there wasn’t much else in terms of decoration for one’s attire.

And also coz making pom-poms is cake. So easy in fact that even men can make them  Maybe

Welp, that’s it for theory. Tune in next week for prac. where I’ll teach y’all how to make one. 😁

For those who doubt this is possible, look up the lyrics to the chorus of a song called ‘Undone’ (aka ‘The Sweater Song’) by Weezer. 🤭

I don’t think Salem is anywhere ready. Didn’t he just start running last week? Still think he is 2 weeks away.

If Dunstan is out then it might be a shuffling of deck chairs to bring a defender or Forward in. My guess :

In : Weid to CHF, Tmac to wing , JJ to mid / HF

Bedford for Chandler as medi sub.

Weideman has had his chances and failed to capitalise. If a wildcard chance was to come into play, I would rather get a game into Van Rooyen. Having said that if Dunstan is fit he plays if not Laurie might be a chance or Bedford as well

Thought it would be Bedford

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
