2022 Fixture

True, and even worse for any Dees fans coming from interstate

I'm from interstate but I'll be there

Personally don't like the day we're playing don't like the Team we're playing, any chance of getting a kick up the backside as we walk through the turnstiles.

AFL is one huge joke. Near on 4 bottom sides in 21 play Thursday and Friday nights to start 22 and we get the Wednesday. Unbelievable.

Oh well in any case as being up in Qld I can watch it on Wednesday night. Just trust we get a big crowd and the ratings is better than the Thursday and Friday night games. Only way Channel 7 and AFL will take any notice.

Thinking positively it will most likely mean 2-3 more blockbuster fixtures for us.

Thursday night in round 2 and Friday night in round 3?

I reckon this is brilliant.  I love the fact we are kicking off the season.  I know a Wednesday night is not ideal for some supporters to attend but having the GF replay kick off the season is a great way to start.

I'm happy to play dogs ...the Afl is obviously recreating a gf atmosphere but it's tough for fans with work the next day. Given that we had to play in another state in our gf , you'd think we would get a break and given a Friday night. Cwood v saints, what a classic that will be.

As will I. Not missing the flag being unfurled.

I actually really like the idea that the GF replay kicks off the season. That feels right.

The real problem is the Thursday night stinker. It’s been a garbage game for years. It also means those 2 teams get TV games for the first 3 weeks of the year - which sucks all the air out of the start of the season for the impartial fan.

If Richmond hadn’t won 3 flags the AFL would have canned it. Time for it to be buried in the weekend and for Thursday night to by GF replay. Reward the competitive teams.

Lucky you!

The clubs done some fantastic things in the last few years, but letting the AFL walk all over us again is pretty weak!!!

We just won the Flag & we still let the AFL push us around

Some things will never change

Hey Billy,

Hear your pain, but I suspect there was some horse trading around this one and our fixture will reflect it.

Umm, I don’t think so, Gil.

Maybe if it was a Friday night…

Family friendly … no !!! Wanted a massive round 1 Friday night fixture for the Dees v Bombers or Cats or even Dogs.
Got a Wednesday night. Hmmmm nah yeah nah

why not the Friday night as Dees v Dogs  ( why Stk v pies on Friday as two underperforming non-2021-finals clubs )

Western Bulldogs and St Kilda will also hit the road in Round 6 for the ANZAC Appeal Round.

Western Bulldogs will host Adelaide Crows at MARS Stadium in Ballarat from 1.45pm on Saturday April, 23, continuing the Dogs’ association with the Ballarat community.

St Kilda has been given a second Friday night game in the early part of the season when Brett Ratten’s men take on Greater Western Sydney in Canberra in Round 6.

The Friday night match will kickstart the ANZAC Appeal Round on April 22 and will also coincide with the return of superstar forward Toby Greene for the Giants.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
