To say I didn't see this start to 2007 coming is a major understatement.

You see Iv'e been there & done that in 16th spot on the ladder once to often.

The 70's where a nightmare, the early 80's where worse. The arrival of Barrassi & the 5 year plan.

What a ripping plan that turned out to be. I guess he did sow the seeds that ultimately got us back into September action.

1987 was our only real shot a winning a flag since 1964 & the footy gods detroyed that dream in the preliminary.

1988,1994 & 2000 all great years but ultimately we never had the structure or list to go all the way.

Right now @ this point in our history we have a potentially very good team, but ultimately we still dont have the list

to end the drought. The Rev will see his contract out & must play the kids in 2007 to sow the seeds just like

Barassi did for his successor John Northey. & we must target specific types of players to help us take the step up in class.

I know truly dominate CHF's dont grow on tree's but that should be the number one priority. You can build a team & win a

flag around a truly great CHF. Dermott. Sticks Kernahan, The King Wayne Carey, Tredrea, Jonothon Brown.

This has got to be the starting point, the midfield( Brock, Moloney,Jones, Sylvia) is in good hands, the backline

(Rivers, Frawley,Whelen, Bell) is going to be in reasonable shape. CHF must be the focus.

If we can find our missing link @ CHF the only way is UP. CAC let the search begin.

I feel much better for that vent. C'mon Dee's lets reload & take on the next 20 rounds.

Mitch brown would have been GREAT!!! He is killing it. Nathan or mitch woudl have been the way for the MFC to go.

I wanted him on draft day. The browns may be players we can target if the chance comes up on trade week.

I feelmuch better for reading it OMR and its a valid comparison. The Northey era commenced with a rounding out of the talent getting the likes of Viney, stretch, febeys etc, and grooming the emerging Lyon.

Thanks. Good angle though and you missed a few that also qualify, like Dunn, Bate, (Davey - will get there),

but ruckmen are also a priority.

To be fair CAC already tried this by picking the best underage KPP Luke Molan at the 2001 superdraft. Unfortunately as we all know he was very injury prone.

Miller took a step in the right direction on Monday, IMO he will never be a superstar forward but if he can work hard and average 1-2 goals a week I'd be very happy.

The popular choices thus far for CHF seem to be Dunn and Miller. Newton and Garland were recruited as KPF and are still very raw.

Another couple that could possibly fill the role, just thinking outside the square, are Bate and Rivers.

At the end of the day you only really need one gorilla forward be it CHF or FF. Brisbane were very fortunate with Brown and Lynch, however subsequent premiers had only one Gorilla: Power with Tredrea, Swans with Hall and WCE with Lynch

While it would be nice to draft a dominant CHF, I think the most pressing need is to find another ruckman.

Yeh, we all come here armed with a wishlist, but how many sides have a CHF? How many have 2 ruckmen?

I count 3 or 4 CHFs in the whole league. One of them isn't at WCE, and one isn't at Sydney. Who's Freo's CHF? They each have stand ins depending on match ups and which ground they are playing on.

I agree we need a giant ruckman, but seriously, that's only the case since the anti-White centre circle came in and it became a tip off.

Choko defy proven history if you wish. The bottom line is dynasty's are built around dominant CHF.

In answer to your Freo question they have a bloke called Pavolich @ present. Heard of him?

Answer to all the final series failures and I have seen all of them 87,88,89,90,91,94,98,2000,2002,2004,2005,2006 MENTAL TOUGHNESS!! In 94 we had LYON, SWARCH,NEITCH,STYNES even JACKOVICH a great spine but we Lacked Mental tougness. Nothing has changed.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
