I assumed so until I did a search straight after and couldn't find didly on Salary Cap rules.

If anyone can that would be much appreciated.

clint, if you really want to troll the freo wanchors, go back there and suggest that freo are considering a swap of andrew brayshaw for dogga. naturally you heard it from a good source close to the club.

Always like to refer to them as expansion clubs when winding Freo, West Coast, Port and Crows supporters up.

They're not clubs, they're franchises.

I'd like to see the source for this as well.

Can't find anything official but various articles say it's been gone for 5 years now. My mistake.

The AFL decided to get rid of the Veterans discount in 2014, it was officially removed at the end of 2016, for the start of the 2017 season, the delay was to allow clubs time to rework contracts etc

I know it’s probably not in Brad Scott’s control but whats a bet his brother has asked him for a favour to have this rule repealed? 😂

Franchises or organisations. Whichever fits.

The whole 'next David Schwarz'  narrative  really does get a good flogging on here, but he's no way at that level at all, or ever will be.

Ox pre knee was primed in becoming a genuine superstar of the competition. At one stage he was on par with Wayne Carey as the best player of the competition. I rate Carey alongside Leigh Matthews and Gary Ablett Snr as one of the best ever players we've seen come through.

Luke Jackson will be a very good ruckman in years to come. Imo I think he is a tad short for a ruckman in being able to reach the levels of a Dean Cox or Max Gawn of being that star factor in his rightful position.

Close comparisons imo would be a Jeff White or Stefan Martin who were able to win the footy 20-25 possessions a game and play as that extra midfielder due to their high athleticism.

More freakish and far better to watch than JW or Stef. Is an X factor to a midfield and runs faster than both.

Reminds  me of a young 3yo colt ready to run in the Derby.

Hope we can get 2 more years out of Dogga.

Who knows  might be a four peat!!!

Is still something special and no matter what happens I had the privilege of watching LJ live ( plus others) turning the GF our way with a bang bang bang!

Will never ever forget it!

Yeah could be worse. I could have compared him to Jack Watts but he was ridiculously soft.

Jacko at least cracks in.

Okay I'll try and break it down for you because we all know you've got a history on here in struggling to understand the basics.

The comparison to Jeff White/Stefan Martin is purely only for their athletic ability and being able to get around the ground and winning midfield like numbers. In fact you could lump Nic Naitanui as well with the follow up work after a ruck contests.

Jackson freak athletic ability is what makes him pretty special and unique. In today's terms he's was probably a touch small for a ruckman but he makes up for his ability to get around the ground so easily and win the footy.

Jeff White in full flight was very exciting to watch.

Let's not forget for a guy that was only 195cm he would easily jump over guys like Peter Everitt, Shaun Rehn, Brad Ottens, Paul Salmon who were well over 200cm plus.

White was also well ahead of his time with his ball use and ability to get around the ground. His kicking was pretty elite for a big bloke especially in an era where ruckman were more known to be the lumbering types.

Also, Jeff could take some serious hang time. His leap was insane.

The problem with Jeff was his shin problems and then also when they brought in the centre circle rule which limited his biggest strength and that was his run and jump and ability to just thump the ball forward.

You had me at Stef Martin

Thanks for the laughs

Keep up the good work

Yeah White's footskills were pretty underrated for a big man. Did a great job linking through the middle and before the centre circle came in his leap was almost criminal with his foot being at the height of the opposition ruckman's head.

Super player, forever grateful that we had him.

Oh nice! Moves like dad? Apparently he's pretty tall already.

Very tall. Wouldn't be surprised if he's around the 197cm mark. Tall and lanky giraffe who towered above everyone else.

Good save Zeph.

I reckon it'd be worth getting in the ears of Sam Hayes from the Power if Jacko leaves. i really like the signs he's showing as a player and he could come in and develop under Max which i think would be super appealing to a young ruck.

At port he's behind Lycett and possibly even Finlayson in terms of the pecking order, and i believe he's a vic native.

Port rate him but i reckon we could get him for a reasonable trade price as well

Interesting, one year to run on his contract. Wonder what it would take to get him?

I think if he requested a trade there is a decent possibility Port would grant it, but we'd probably have to give up something like a future second to get him. he's a talented player and a similar style ruckman to Max in my opinion 205cm Giant

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
