And how many 3rd Quarters?

UNLIMITED!

I'm starting to struggle what with our premiership drought extending to 5 entire weeks. But I can recommend watching: (i) the entire match (ii) the third quarter, or (iii) extended highlights of the second half. It's still [censored] good.

My Child . . . yes, you have indeed sinned. But all graceful 'Landers have mercy. For your penance:

  • $1,000 to the poor box (i.e. North Melbourne charity cake stall fundraising drive in Feb 2022),
  • 100 hours of volunteer work in the Collingwood finance department,
  • Pray once a day for Horethorn's board,
  • Never pray for Carlton, and
  • Watch the 2021 GF replay at least once a week between now and when the AFLW season commences in 2022.

Go in pease Child, your humility and honesty have saved you. Your sins are forgiven.

Amen.

Look, I just can't keep up with theย ๐Ÿ‘-ing andย ๐Ÿ˜„-ing and occasional ๐Ÿงก-ing and ๐Ÿค”-ing I should be doing on this thread. So take them as read.

But Iย doย note the 2000-post milestone approaches. Better still, theย 2021ย milestone follows shortly thereafter!

Take your marks...

Lots of people talking about the Melbourne Cup but they seem to have got mixed up and are talking about horse racing???

Elle actually did back in 1990; but she was too shy back then so nothing came of it, and there's no way it would have compared to the 2021 premiership.

In having a one month anniversary watching of round 23 onwards this afternoon, before I head out to a local pub.

(with my 5yo who wants to wear a tuxedo ๐Ÿคฃ and we will honour, as he wants to go to a fancy restaurant (its the BHP))...

Every single time I see this person, post Max Gawn's goal against the cats, snapping form the boundary - I just feel he/she encapsulates every Melbourne supporter who drinks...EVERY.SINGLE.TIME

*I'm just going to neck what I have in my hand, get another, kick back and enjoy the show!

I was just reading the 13 Victories Shaping Melbourne's 13th Flag and the 13th contained this,

the Dees piled on 16.4 (100) to the Bulldogs measly 1.1 (7) and ran out 74 point victors

I'm still having difficulty coming to terms with this and get the tingles when I think of the last quarter and a half. I've never seen a quarter and a half as devastating as this before.

That 16.4 happened with 1.5 quarters to go, equivalent to 66.67 points per quarter or 267 points for the match. Letโ€™s not forget this was against the 2nd best team for the year.

Thatโ€™s how hot we were.

I guess most of us were flag virgins not that long ago. Our elation is no doubt much higher than say a eagles fan who would have experienced "multiple highs" from their success but we still get what many other fans have been getting on a more consistent basis.

A PREMIERSHIP IS JUST BLOODY AWESOME.

There is an old quote that ... virginity is a recurring condition.ย

I hope we win a flag again ASAP.

I hope we win so many that we become hunted and despised.ย

Itโ€™s all about the iceโ€ฆย

Vanilla Ice sings Ice, Ice Baby and for some people Ice (methamphetamine) is their illicit drug of choice.ย
And btw Tim, the fact that you arenโ€™t familiar with Vanilla Ice doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re old. Probs just means you have good taste in music. ๐Ÿ˜

EO, you've made me watch replays AGAIN! Oh, the 'pain'...

I've realised he's just arrived at his row with the beer as the ball's being thrown up. So he's sculled it there and then, not even getting to his seat.

Must have missed a few more goals then, returning to the queue...

Every time I go to a friends place, the replay is on and I don't want to be rude so I sit and watch it.

Of course, at home I like to watch the season unfold, so I watch the games we played during the year, aside from the losses, and watch our team get better with every win. It's amazing that Fritter has improved so much that he almost took out the Norm Smith, there are other players that also improved dramatically and I can see why some fell out of the side not to return.ย

  • NON-MFC: Round 12

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.ย  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.ย  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.ย  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.ย

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
