I am so ashamed of Melbourne. Utterly disappointed. I didn't go to the game and very glad i didnt. What i noticed from the game:

*No pressure - No tackling

*Johnstone, Green, Davey - shame on you

*A very slow team - how danners can ask us to run and carry when we have NO speed

*Not one player was great but Miller, Moloney, bruce, brown were some of the better players

*Davey - Slow, this guy was disgracefull and i believe he is much slower after his hammys. Teams are also more aware of his presence.

Although some blame has to go to danners, i blame the majority on it on our players. Johnstone 2possies on Sewell (someone not well known) is shocking. Whelan on Williams (we did that in 05 and he tore us apart), C.Johnson back to sandy.

I dont really know what to say, yes we can blame Neitz, Wheatley and Robbo injuries but we never looked like winning. And for a member to say "At least we won the last quarter" means nothing.

I look at Brisbane who have a good list already, Dogs who will be in top 4, Essendon with speed, tallent and leadership and I look at us. Even richmond have more future than us.

Many said that we would be top 4 so to even make the 8 is stupid and a failure. My opinion, melb to come bottom 4, ND to get the sack, and plenty of draft picks. I am so angry and feel like tearing up my membership. I will cop something on here for saying that but like it or not i speak my mind.

If only ND would drop davey, TJ, Green - who at the end of the day will have to live knowing he was one of 22 who was responsible for our loss on game 150.

Lastly, dont play White or Jamar forward. they cant do anything there and get in the way

Go hard or go home melbourne and i mean it!

You should be able to get your money back on your membership with a totally inept performance displayed in the opening rounds. We're so bad, I can't fathom how we're even gonna get competitive this year. There's so many deficiencies it's heart breaking.

Moloney injured too. Calf injury.

So:

Moloney

Robertson

Neitz

Davey - serious ankle injury

i dont disagree entirely with you occo, and you make some good points, however:

*Davey - Slow, this guy was disgracefull and i believe he is much slower after his hammys. Teams are also more aware of his presence.

he showed good pace at times and is still very quick, even if he isnt as quick as he used to be. and i thought he was one of the few who chased most of the day.

Lastly, dont play White or Jamar forward. they cant do anything there and get in the way

didnt they both kick goals? jamar does more up forward, where he can mark and kick for goal, than he does around the ground.

Utter tripe served up out there today

We are soft without without McLean, Sylvia and Pickett

Brent Moloney - a battler at best. Worst tackler in the AFL. No technique at all, just jumps in the players back

Green, Johnstone, Bruce - if these guys are in line for the captaincy, we will never win a flag

We need a decent ruckman, a Centre half back and a crumbing forward

Bate - worst hands in the comp. Butter fingers

PATHETIC!!!

my changes

In - NEWTON, Sylvia, Yze, Pickett, Holland

Out TAKE YOUR PICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I would not min

Agreed Bruce was OK for a game where no players stood out. Harsh on Moloney (2nd game from injury), this kid has the potential to be a sensational player. As for bate (ur comment was extreamly harsh), he is a great player but is not a midfielder. More a forward pocket.

He was rubbish. Those were his faults.

Saying "he was rubbish" means nothing. Be spacific otherwise ur comments are totally disregarded

he didn't tell neale to go and get stuffed when asked to shift from midfield to the forward line in the second quarter.

he spent most of the rest of the game up forward - where he had no effect whatsoever on the play.

our midfield rotations make no sense. when hawthorn were coming back in the second junior and jones were both sitting on the pine. crazy.

we look very, very slow.

It's just part of our grand plan to get Judd. Neitz said we were going to bottom out so we could get him on SEN. Injuries, injuries and more injuries what a secret weapon Bohdan is sign him up for life doing to us what he done for Hawthorn what a recruit.

He cannot kick, pure and simple. His disposal for an elite player is shameful.

He fluffed more kicks than I care to remember.

Started like a house on fire, but as soon as we started losing he disappeared. He apperantly had 29 possessions, but his influence was minimal at best.

Bate did make a couple of mistakes by foot, as did Jones, but gees at least they were out there running and trying their guts out, and they had VERY limited support from senior players who are meant to be carrying the side.

Poor coaching from Daniher to play TJ up forward when he couldn't get near it and Bate at FF when he is clearly not suited to the role. Also, Whelan on Williams for far too long. Bell pretty much nullified him in the last, apart from giving away a silly free kick which resulted in a goal.

Speaking of which, Wheatley... what are you thinking??

White was really poor in the middle, which made us look even worse in the middle.

Really I thought our most useful, hardest working midfielder was Godfrey (honorable mentions to Jones and Junior as always), which in itself should tell you how badly we played today.

But, it's only round 2... we're not allowed to panic yet, right?

occo, no tackling? we out tackled hawks 73 to 50 somthing?! that wasnt our problem... and davey slow? comon who are u kidding

we did have too many passengers and players we need to stand up like johnstone, green did not. Chris Johnson should get another week but hed better start getting more of it. I thought Bell played well today. He is very quick and looked a lot more composed in the backline than normal.

And good old Brown Dog was excellent. Hopefully melbourne coaching staff will start to appreciated him a little more.

How about one thing that did help Bruce was Johnstone receiving the hard tag all day to free up other players, and then receiving no help back from anyone at bounces helping shake the tag with blocks.

Am I winding you up? Sorry mate, you're right, he wasn't a disgrace. But I think he's given the tagging job too much. He stiched up Hodge in the first quarter, but then he was on Franklin and fought a losing battle. He's only freed up to attack when the game's getting desperate. Let the guy play. He's so much better than that.

G'day Fellow Demons Supporters!

That was a disgraceful and gutless effort!

I'm seething with anger as I'm sure a lot of you on here are.

All I can say is that if Neale Daniher doesn't improve our game plan his coaching days are numbered! Even though, a lot of players were pathetic and hopeless in their efforts today......he's been our coach for 9 years so the buck stops with him! <_<

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
