This year I paid extra on top of my membership for the grand final guarantee option to purchase a ticket. Obviously being a Victorian I won't be able to attend if it's in Perth.

Does anyone know if I'd still be able to purchase a ticket if the game is in Perth so then I can give it to my mate who lives in WA so they can go?

Wondering the same, plenty of "freinds" in WA

Not sure about MFC membership but if you transfer your AFL membership ticket to someone you’ll likely have your membership torn up or at the very least be downgraded from full to restricted.

I suspect the answer will be yes to your question given that the club will desperately want MFC supporters to attend the grand final this year when we make it.

I have booked a hotel in Perth to quarantine. Not sure of logistics beyond this, but as a MFC/MCC Premium Member I get a guaranteed GF Ticket. I  intend to use it.....  even if I am stuck in a hotel for one week or even two.  Who is joining me?

The cost and inconvenience of doing that has ruled me out. How much did the hotel cost you for the quarantine period?

They the Club  don't make those rules and couldn't I suspect just change a ticket OR a GFGuarantee for transfer.

I have  GF Guarantee and havent given up yet on attending if WA Govt makes decisions on Qld border arrangements.

Well done on the commitment.

Was it hard to get the G2G pass? The below website says only those with special circumstances can get in to WA and then quarantine for 14 days. This is reference to medium risk states such as VIC.

Thought about it more than once lately. Its just seems a bridge too far.

I think WA will open the border to QLD once they go 28 days without community transmission.

I think you’re every chance.

At the moment you can at the very least do 14 days quarantine. VICs won’t even be afforded that luxury unless they have a special reason to enter the state.

I honestly don’t think you can even if you were willing to commit.

I could be wrong but it looks as though people from medium risk states such as VIC must receive special permission just to enter the state prior to their 14 days quarantine.

Victoria won’t be downgraded to low risk by 11 September.

I just applied for it myself out of curiousity a couple of hours ago (live in Melbourne) and didn't get the approval myself:

.. Personally I've thankfully moved to the acceptance / glass-half-full phase pretty quickly that it's watching it on the tele from here on in for me (for reference, on the hotel price question, I'd had a look and saw you can get half-decent 2 week one bedroom Perth CBD hotel stays for $1500 or so). Go dees.

I think you're on the money BBP. Just a few too many hoops to jump through.

I would go and quarantine but we won’t get exemption to even enter the state to quarantine. That’s the issue.

I’m in Sydney so I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere this side of Christmas. That aside, there’s absolutely no way I could afford a hotel for however long the quarantine period is, plus airfares for two to Perth.

Excellent question.

I would happily give my ticket to someone in Perth provided they sign a stat dec that they will cheer for the Dees and put thier excellent booing skills to use to our benefit.

I live in Perth and if we make it will be at the game as I have gf guarantee. We had flights and accommodation booked for Melbourne but alas not this year.

I will be cheering very loudly…extra loud for all of you who cannot be there. I’m also hoping that potentially the AFL opens it to MFC members who do not have gf guarantee so our two daughters can come along.

Go Dees! I’m feeling so proud today

Might it be easier to apply to get into SA stay there for 14 days then cross the border? (with all the Port fans)

They may not be as strict.

I think if its possible to give your grand final guarantee to somebody else then as many of these as possible should be given to people in Perth who are able to attend the game.

We need as many as Dees as humanly possible to attend.

(but im also getting ahead of myself)...

On a side note I think that in lieu of making use of the Guaranteed Grand Final ticket the club should allow all holders of such tickets to get a photo with the premiership cup at some point.

But I'm getting ahead of myself ...

I agree - I've had the GFG for as long as I can remember, probably 15 years, including the Neeld years.  I hope if we do win the flag this year there is some sort of exclusive event for those us in that position.

Hmm, interesting. Have just checked. If I'm reading it right it doesn't look to be the case though. Seems you must be an "essential traveller" and while you can get an exception for this it's for things like urgent medical treatment and what not.

Therés a clause for people escapng domestic violence, where there's a will there's a way..

I don't see why the WA government can't allow some sort of FIFO arrangement for VIC based fans like the UK did for itallians in the euro 2020 final. Test before the game, negative, fly in shuttle to the ground fly out no contact with the public barring those in the stadium.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
