Week 4 (The one where we win the whole F*cking thing)

Grand Final will be held at Optus Stadium.

A heavyweight title fight between the best 2 teams of the home and away season.

After a tough 3 quarters where both sides have momentum but can't take advantage, I have the Dees in front at 3/4 time by 4 points. The lead won't blow out to more than 12 points for either side during the game.

Our superior fitness will see us push out to a 24 point lead with 7 minutes to play.

Port will kick a goal to bring it back to 18 points with 6 minutes to go.

A steadier from Ben Brown will take the margin back out to 24 with 4 and a half to play.

The "built for finals" gameplan will see us run the clock down with stoppage after stoppage for a 23 point win.

Could you be more specific, please?

i have a horrible feeling this thread is going to coax Dr D out of the woodwork to produce yet another factual prediction of doom and gloom. I believe his last one, based on his ability to know more about football than any other numbskull on demonland, had us dropping from 1st to finish 5th and feeling grateful to be in the 8 at all. My skills as a budding Nostrodamus have Dr D predicting we exit the finals in straight sets 😜

Where has DR d gone, he did  boasted so much, was so sure of himself, we won't see him again, not a Melbourne supporter

Quite apart from an MFC flag, the greatest delight I’d derive from this is seeing Essendon out week 1 and Geelong out in week 2 in straight sets. Kcfu those guys.

Its hard to see cats go out in straight sets as much as I would enjoy it.

I think your on the money with Port at home in hot form to take them out. But given their forward line I get the feeling we may see them again.

But who knows, outside of the Dons all of these teams are dangerously talented so it will be one hell of a finals series.

Good effort.

I think your'e on the money here Rev.

Port are not in Lions class.

Cats are gone

Sydney well coached enough  and Longmire will get them to a prelim. But May has Buddys measiure so its over them for them.

May has Danihers measure, so over for them to in GF.

Ah, now I get it.  Thanks. 😀

FWIW, the TAB betting on the Norm Smith Has six out of the top seven coming from Melbourne or Geelong – I guess the money thinks it will be in Melbourne V Geelong grand final.

Justin Longmuir is tipping either Geelong or Brisbane as premiers.

that means he thinks they'll either both win or both lose this weekend, otherwise it's an impossibility

Port going in on winning streak will be tough.

We have done well to win our last four unlike cats and dogs.

This will be a red hot finals series.

Lions kicking some high scores will come up against a solid defence but our forwards especially Tmac will have to lift a lot.

Not too worried about the dons who make up the numbers but all seven others are great teams this year especially the Swans.

Gws and dogs we have an equal record.

Edited by leave it to deever

Geelong to defeat Port by 12-20 points

GWS to defeat Sydney by less than a kick

Melbourne to defeat Brisbane by 25-30 points

Bulldogs to defeat Essendon by 30-40 points

Bulldogs defeat Brisbane by less than a kick

Melbourne defeat Port by 30-40 points

Geelong defeat Bulldogs by 20-25 points

Melbourne defeat Geelong by 12-20 points.

I was well off with last night's game. But I nailed the Swans v GWS match!😁

Well I'll go one week at a time and I predicted Geelong to win and lost but predicted GWS to win. Tipping Melbourne tonight and Essendon tomorrow.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
