Tasmania perhaps... the perfect neutral venue in a year that Hawks and Roos are an impossibility

Happy to have it in a state where VIC's can enter that state, and thus MFC members with GF priority tickets can fly over.

If we come out of lockdown next week and do not have another outbreak, it's highly likely that every state will  have opened their borders to VIC by late September.

Same with Tmac's newborn spending time in the hospital this week. If we were in a hub right now you would imagine he would fly home, and nobody would begrudge him that.

No more babies due during the season, all safely out of the womb during byes and Victorian games. Well done everyone!

Don't forget about the trip back! I suspect travelling to Sydney or perhaps even all of NSW will be a one way trip for quite some time yet.

Yes you cannot have half hearted lock downs with Delta. Fast and Hard or Nothing IMO.

Yep. They still refuse to put a 5km radius limit. They still refuse to define essential workers properly. They have done nothing to learn from Victoria.

Every outbreak we've had except for this one, has had large concentration of cases in the North and West of Melbourne, where just like in Sydney, there is a large number of ethnic and immigrant communities. Why are they not deploying some of the tactics we have? Door knocking, street testing stations, engaging with community leaders to communicate the messages. 

For goodness sake we had to lock down commission housing towers. It doesn't get more challenging than that. 

Today they said we need to double our efforts in those areas. Today is too late. You have refused to learn from the vast mistakes we made in Victoria last year, instead of learning from what worked. And now the months and months of suffering that went on in our state, is going to happen completely unnecessarily in NSW.

It also doesn't help that we still have horrible vaccination messaging and horrible supply issues. Now NSW wants to take the few Pfizer doses we have nation wide. Why should us Victorians who have been through 5 lockdowns, in fact we have spent 6 whole months in hard lockdown in this state over the last 18 years, why should we give up our doses because NSW were too proud to lockdown hard and early?

It says a lot about the poor quality of leaders in this country across state and federal governments, that bloody Daniel Andrews is the best we got right now.

I have been told by a friend ( no idea  how accurate ) that there is a division in the NSW Government. approx Half want tough lock down ( Gladys included ) and half want no restrictions or certainly less than tough. Result a failure to contain.

I have no doubt their 'health advice' was to go hard and fast early, and they ignored it. I am sure their CHO is not pleased with the measures they have taken, and she seems to have absolutely no control over Gladys or that [censored] of a health minister who is just a combative [censored]. 

Listening to their press conferences and then listening to ours is like night and day. Chaos versus calm.

They need to employ someone like Jerone. Their contact tracing has lost the plot, they can't keep up with close contacts let alone second and third tiers, which is probably why everyday so many people are found sick in the community. We have mastered the art of isolating rings and  rings of contacts. Of the 14 cases today only 3 (maybe 4 pending interviews) were out in the community. 2 are family members of the guy from AAMI park who was a tier 2 and then became a tier 1 (and again due to hard lockdown only very few exposure sites), and 1 who was only out briefly on a tram to get a test (which is not something you can really stop as people need to get tested and not everybody has a car). That is the extent of our 'community exposure', because we shut things down hard and fast.

At over 100 cases a day, you lose complete control which is exactly where NSW is at now. It will take them months to get back to any sense of normality, and I hope Daniel Andrew's plan for a hard ring of steel is approved at national cabinet, because if they keep seeding this Delta strain all over Australia, we will all be in lockdown with them until next year!

I suppose I'm being parochial, but really don't like the idea of Victoria giving extra vaccines to Sydney, just because they couldn't bring themselves to implement a proper lockdown.

I know they're on a knife's edge, but so are we, and I suspect our knife is sharper: our State has suffered much more than the others. From what I've observed, so many people, businesses etc can't take much more (not speaking for myself - I can work from home, I'm fully vaccinated and I live in a lovely environment, but lots of others aren't so lucky)

I can almost match you Jara. I am retired, second jab next Friday, live in a nice place ( well I think so) and we both barrack for the Dees.

You're falling into Gladys' trap.

Nothing like finding an enemy to unite against. In this case it's the other States.

Queensland has mastered the art.

The Pfizer roll out in excess of vulnerables etc in most States is minimal. Little real impact on Vic etc in sending September excess supplies to Sydney. (we retain the Pfizer necessary for heath workers vulnerable etc)

If it was October you would have a point as the "excess" should be very impactful.

But where else DJ. Can't be NSW, WA look us out everytime some one sneezes . SA not too different to us. Qld won't let us in now we are all unclean. Leaves Tassie. Their condition will be gives us our own team or you cannot come here. So it is Vic or nothing as far as I can see. If there is only 25k allowed in for finals so be it.

Use the pre finals bye to move all finalists to WA and play them there.

If another State is"clean" you can move a game there from WA if economics dictate.

The problem with Vic is that some if not all finals could easily be no crowds. I suppose you could then just pause and do 10 days quarantine in Tas or WA.

I'm beyond caring as my next overseas trip is fast disappearing into 2023

I could foresee the AFL reshuffling our games to keep us in Vic for a block, and then interstate for the GC and WC games, rather than sending us interstate for two weeks but still needing to bring us back.

That would depend on whether they could reshuffle the other games scheduled - so who is Adelaide scheduled to play next week? Who are Suns meant to play in round 21?
