Paxman is a dead set legend. Full stop.

This comp has been going for 5 years and this is here 5th AA selection. Remarkable consistency.

She should be on our banner @Demonland

Agree with Paxman. I think the best player in the comp. Tayla Hanks is only a couple of years behind her. As much as I like Goldrick I doubt she would have been a cert.

It will be a tough midfield to break into. Are there any better rucks than Lauren Pearce going around - she seems the most likely to earn a spot. One of Hanks or Paxman might slide on to a flank or the bench, but I'm not sure there will be room for both.

Not sure how she qualifies, but based on the nominees, Tyla Hanks must be favourite to win the rising star award this year. Nobody on that list has come close to her impact.

I suspect Ellie McKenzie will be high up in the selectors minds.  The number of times I heard the media refer to ‘number one draft pick...’.

But I love Tyla, she is so clean, so clever. Can’t you just tell that she is loving her footy, a clear RS favourite for mine!

Is Lauren Pearce related to Daisy Pearce?

The only other ruck who's any competition is Moody for Carlton. But I'd think L.Pearce has her covered.

The rules are a little different for AFLW Rising Star - no games limit, under 21 not 20 on Jan 1 of the season. So it's a bit of a quirk that Tyla wasn't nominated in previous years and just turned 21 this past February. There's precedence though for an 'older' player with Huntington winning age 21 in 2020. So if they're going by impact and consistency, Tyla can't be ignored. Having said that, wouldn't be surprised if they give it to McKenzie for PR reasons.

So, Paxy is now a 5 time All Australian. Absolute superstar.

But clearly you need to play for Carlton, Collingwood or Richmond to get a look in. Lauren Pearce absolutely robbed. Lions only had one player too.

Congrats also to Tayla Hanks on her rising star win.

Agree L.Pearce hugely stiff and Hanks unlucky too.  Was a very strange side.  Collingwood have a key defender Livingstone who was incredible this year and didnt make it, which is a travesty as well.

It was a very stange side. How the hell did Katie Brennan end up as chf. Lauren Pearce was robbed of a ruck position with the carlscum player getting it. Why ??? She is no where near as good as Pearce. Would have thaught Kate Hore would have got a spot in the forward line as well. Maybe I am just too biased.

As someone on Twitter said, it was a side built on reputation rather than actual output. The leading goal kicked didn't even start on the bloody ground!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
