Looks like this could turn out OK

I feared 8-10 weeks, if he had a break

I guess the CT scan will reveal all

very very good point. i couldn't understand for the life of me why that was the case.

whelan is GONE. early in the season, damage to the head, time for a tribunal statement .. minimum 2.

WHAT! Whelan is gone for LEGITIMATE SHEPHERDING with his back to the St Kilda player. Surely, the AFL aren't going to ban shepherding from our great game. This is not basketball! What rubbish.

My daughter is a close mate of Brock's cousin. She spoke to him about 3 hours ago. He reckons, no ligament problems, CT scan tomorrow, and he'll be back in 2-3 weeks - if they don't find anything on the scan that he doesn't know about.

yea thats been said.

Surely, the AFL aren't going to ban shepherding from our great game.

Well, they're doing their level best to remove just about everything else physical, so this unfortunately should not be surprising  !!!

Dr Smooth from MMM has stated that Brock has been cleared of any ligiment damage. He will have a CT on monday and may only be out for 3-4 weeks.

This is great news, considering how bad it looked last night.

And thanks for the link Madness. Excellent news about Whelan :D !!!

Good news

All these onjuries are very disheartning to start the season, especally for the superstar in Brock Mclean. I hope the CT scan will clear him of major injury in the 'bones' and he will be out for only 2-3 weeks, not 10 weeks as some commentators have said

If Wheels gets rubbed out for that bump then I will absolutely spew. It was a perfectly legitimate shepherd that just unfortunately resulted in a clash of heads.

A clash of heads certainly does hurt, I have done it, but it does not deserve a suspension, because how could he get out of it  He could not

Is there any information on Whelan and Brock?

brock does worry me alot he is soo injruy prone its not funny.

there is better news on the fitness of key defender Jared Rivers and the experienced Byron Pickett, with Demons football operations manager Chris Fagan confident both will be fit for the Easter Monday clash with Hawthorn at the MCG.

Both will need to pass fitness tests later in the week after missing the season opener with hamstring soreness while defender Matthew Whelan, who suffered neck spasms against the Saints, is also expected to be fit to face the Hawks.

    GIANT HEADACHE by Whispering Jack

The crack in the captain’s ankle might be very small but the repercussions of the injury are enormous. The aftershock of the news that Max Gawn will sit on the sidelines for the next two or three weeks has provided Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin with a giant headache, not unlike the one he faced after the Kings Birthday when another Demon superstar Christian Petracca suffered his season-ending injury. That headache is magnified by the fact that Goodwin is facing a month of tough encounters a

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b
