Much better quarter from Melb, Tigers will not be happy,   they seem to be standing still, like Melbourne previous quarter.

We have a bit of fluidity   Spargo Chandler (does not go backwards) Jackson Rivers all doing well

Loving how clean our younger players have been, Chandler/Sparrow/Jordon/Spargo/Rivers.

I turn around for two minutes to do work and miss Oliver’s goal. Rude.

Don't thin our fitness will be a problem

couple of nice marks from big Max

Ah jeez...

Chandler's just come off holding his arm.

Chandler injured. Looks like arm/shoulder. Faark

Can’t say that I’m a big fan of Tomlinson at FB.

What was the deal with Tommy? His 50M penalty confuses me, stuck his hands up in the air to say 'i'm not impacting the mark' and then 3 seconds later just walks through it, goal tiges.

Yea gets a bit lost at times, don’t think he’s a natural defender

Last 5 minutes have been poor.

Much better quarter from the Demons, although the Tigers have cut the margin back to seven points.

Goals to 3/4 time for those who aren't watching

2 to Chandler, Gawn and Fritsch

Singles to Jones, Jordan, Oliver and Petracca

What is the score!!

Baker amongst it. Looked comfortable.

I think he just showed why he won't make it...

He's good out on his own but no idea in any kind of traffic.

He clearly walked across the mark. 50m penalty was there.

He sure did, i'm just struggling to understand why he did it, usually they throw their hands up and move backwards, then move behind the player taking the kick. Tommy just threw the hands up and decided 'stuff it, ill just go anyways' after the ump had a chance to see him there

Disappointing about Chandler's injury. He was looking lively today.

We're exactly spoilt for small forward options like Richmond are.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?
