I think their window has now passed given their age demographic.  Cameron's choice of destination, given his age, is a very poor one imv.

Awesome ?

Sad to see Gary Jnr end his career. Best player I’ve ever seen. Best player in the league from 2007-2014. 2 Browlows. 5 time MVP. 8 time All Australian.

Congratulations Gary. Superstar!

Pity he chased money. He would have at least one more flag bid wager he’d have 4 medals.
amazing player but why he went to Gold Coast in his prime only he can answer

Very hard to split Dangermouse, paul newman and Cotchin for the best free kick of the game competition.

But Jack won the best "look at me" award.....

He’ll regret it if he doesn’t already. Be a millionaire at the cats and win more flags or get more money at the suns and play in front of 5K fans

Mathews would be rubbed out of the game nowdays.

I didn't like Lee at all... but please inform me, which one of those highlights would have resulted in Lee being rubbed out?

Hats off to the Tigers, who I hate with a passion. Their work as a club and a team over the past 5 seasons is amazing. They won tonight with betteer team play, winning significant moments, and having Dusty wandering around outclassing everyone.

Ablett jr: I put him up there with Matthews, Ablett snr, and Carey as the best players I have seen. And among this group, he is definitely the most complete. If you rated all the skills of th game, her would be 8.5+ for each of them. The others in my list rarely tackled, shepherded or did the defensive stuff. Ablett jnr did. Absolute star and footy is less for him leaving.

Dusty is a freak. His kicking skills are up there with Jarman and Trav Johnstone. His balance and ability to stay on his feet whether running, marking, being tackled are magical. just so strong over the footy.

On Dusty, I know a few people at Castlemaine FC (I grew up nearby) and I was talking to someone on the committee when Dusty was there. At 16yo, as training was finished, Dusty would be out there alone for another 1/2 half hour taking shots from all along the 50m arc, with both feet on the run and from set shot. They had to ask him to finish up to turn the lights out. At 17 you, he could beat many senior footballers one-on-one. Absolute gun - love watching him.

But bl***y hell, if we don't win flag soon I'm going to explode. So tired of seeing every other half-arsed club and player winning flags.

Anyone putting Dangerfield and Dusty in the same conversation need to stop. He is so far ahead. Danger had a poor game. Dusty loves the big stage

hawkins is another who choked. Marked close to goal and played on for a snap? Take your time and take  the pressure

For those saying we passed on dusty, stop complaining. We didn't have any leadership back then like a cotchin to take under his wing and he would have left us years ago when we were a rabble.

He would have got so frustrated with us.

I have to agree. As I said, I didn't like him, but the highlights stand!

Tragic. We are now at the stage where we think we did well by not taking the best player.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
