Me too, if possible. Much appreciated.

Not much to the article just stating that it’s finals or bust for the off field team. All football department positions are under review including Richardson/Mahoney. No comment on if Goodwin is under review but you would assume so. Click bait on the Brayshaw/Viney comment

Old news  Trac  I  was told Plapp was looking for a job two weeks ago

Just to clarify, the article said coaching and fitness and named several people but Mahoney wasn't one of them.  That isn't to say his position isn't being reviewed.

I thought it was good to get some insight into likely players to be contracted.

The review probably explains why Burgess hasn't been recontracted yet - my guess he would take up a sizeable portion of the soft cap.

Any idea if it's an internal or external review? And which players were mentioned?

It didn't say.

Simeon Thomas-Wilson (don't know who that is) did a complete list analysis.  Too long to repeat but if there is anyone that interests you I can pick that out.

Edit: thought it easier to pm to you - it should be in your inbox.

You’re right it did say that they are “assessing all senior positions including the coaching staff and fitness department.” Would have thought Mahoney fell under that umbrella.

Tehnically Mahoney doesn't fall in one of those departments as he is the boss of coaching and fitness (and other departments)

Will be bitterly disappointed if Mahoney's position isn't reviewed.

If anyone needs the article sent just get in touch via PM and i'll copy it across for you.

As for the article itself, this comes as no surprise and is a welcome development to kick off our off-season.  You would expect a few of those guys not to be with the club when our pre-season kicks off later in the year.

nothing concrete in that story at all

the general vibe around the trips seems to be mahoney, plapp, and probably matthews go, with richardson moving into mahoney's role

i've not heard anything re chaplin and, quite frankly, our defence was strong this year so i'd be hesitant to shake things up enormously back there

no idea re who they're looking at replacements in the coaching ranks

Well nothing can be concrete at this stage until the review is done.

The one positive is that the review is taking place, as it should.

Hopefully that means a complete review of every individual with no free passes. Hope  Pert has someone more qualified helping him. He doesn’t have the background to access decision making of a lot of those positions.
I wouldn’t have thought it had started now but is in the final stages. Not having 1on1s with the players would be a wasted process.

How did you get that from the article?

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
