It's the gift that just keeps giving

Meanwhile Donald is busy carving his initials into the Oval Office furniture (not fake news)

The world isn't coming to an end.  One just has to find a way to avoid him.  But I'd be avoiding Biden as well if he somehow wins

Good points, Mr Mac. It looks more like we can at least say we have avoided another 4 years of the chief lunatic running the asylum. I loathe Joe Biden and everything he stands for. IF the Democrats had any guts or brains - which I doubt - we'd have a president who actually was articulate and had some policies. Sanders would have been a much better choice.

I don't see Biden as a bad person in any way dieter.  He is a decent man ... it's just that I would have preferred a younger candidate.  And I'm not an ageist either

So he'll be very diplomatic and might even be able to unite the USA again.  But it's a difficult assignment especially without 'possibly' having a majority in the Senate.  He'll need to find a stack of energy to cope.  Big job ahead (if he wins)

Harris on the other hand is a good back-up.  I really like her style.  Maybe hardtack will be correct in his appraisal that Biden will only go 2 or 3 years (again,  if he wins)

By the way if it ends up at 269 for both candidates Trump would almost certainly be the POTUS as the Republicans hold sway on the tiebreaker 26-22

So Biden needs to hold on to Georgia and win Pennsylvania,  Arizona or Nevada

It's still not quite over but others would call it for Biden

Well thank christ for that.

A small victory for sanity, science, democracy and basic human decency.

Also, gloating Trump supporters make gloating Richmond supporters seem like rational, intelligent Dees supporters (apologies to a certain poster in this thread).

True it is a sad reflection on US politics that the age of the two candidates are mid and late 70’s. I’m sure this would be seen as unconstitutional but they should be making and age limit on nominations.

I think Biden’s alright and should he continue the current trajectory I think he will be a good president for trying to reunite the country rather than divide it as Trump has so skilfully done.

I thoroughly dislike Trump but one thing I will say that’s good is he shook up the political landscape. For so long there were things just expected of leaders and America in particular, but he put his foot down and played by his own rules. A lot of it was bad, some of it was good, but the system needed a shake up.

Trump has already won.  His lead is unassailable in too many of the leftover states even with voter fraud factored in.

How about the democrats though?   Losing the election so just stop counting and shut things down for the night.  They are disgusting and you wouldn't even see that level of corruption and fraud in the 3rd world.

Hindsight tells us that Trump should have been urging his supporters to post in their votes early much like the Democrats did

Because on the day his fans might decide (like half of America 'usually' does) to not bother voting.

I mean,  how easy is it to fill out a ballot and throw it in a post box?  Absentee voting was allowed in many States so why not take advantage?

COVID would have kept people away from the ballot box as well so there's another reason.

He doesn't always play the wrong card in terms of what works for him but I believe he did in this instance

Trump supporters turning on their own.

In defence of Fox their election day coverage was reasonable.

Not to be confused with that of their regular hosts which was out there to say the least....

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2020/nov/05/fox-news-sucks-trump-supporters

"On Facebook, on a now-deleted group for Trump supporters that claimed Democrats were trying to steal the election, dozens of commenters described how “totally betrayed” they felt while watching Fox News on election night."

Biden has taken the lead in Pennsylvania. If that holds, he's the President-Elect.

~130,000 votes left to count and around 85% of the mail votes have gone to Biden so far.

OMG. How dumb is The Dumpster? Dunning-Kruger on steroids. Telling all his white-trash followers to come out and vote on election day (never mind the virus - doesn't matter to him - he's already had it) and then screaming 'I won' when the first day's results put him in front.

Yesterday's 'press conference':  broken man blues. Even his hair transplant knew the jig was up.

Dumbest politician since Dan Quayle. Craziest since George the Third.

You flatter him: he is not, nor was he ever a Politician. He is a swindler, a bullshi''er, a conman, a bully, a golf cheat, a mental midget, a serial sexual predator, an illiterate buffoon.

and that's probably why so many yanks voted for him.

We are now moving into the next phase and perhaps once again those of us that apply traditional logic need to be wary.

The next phase is the spin and fake news coming out of the White House and Republican machine in support of the "voter fraud" line. We may know it's BS but for many Trump supporters which make up half of America's voters they actually believe it.

I doubt that he will get much comfort from the Courts. The Gore v Bush arguments were very real by comparison whereas the Trump contentions are ephemeral and isolated at best. The real damage is that he will leave at least 25% of Americans believing that the Presidency was stolen from them in the worst sense of the word.

Such beliefs will legitimize Republicans stymieing the Democrats at every turn including that now well known tactic of limiting/rejecting money bills. Do we want to see a return to Government services being stopped simply because they cannot pay the wage bill.

I think the "real damage" is yet to come.  I dread to think what he will get up to over the next two months until the inauguration takes place.  "Stand back and stand by" may turn out to be more than just an empty threat.

Hmmm...you may be right. But he is still a politician of sorts. How about we compromise? He's a swindling, bullsh*tting, conning, bullying, cheating, mentally-challenged, sexually-predatory, illiterate politician?

His main 'Attribute' is his blatant racism

And that has huge appeal to racists

Racism = Narrow mindedness = Trump fans

I've met hundreds of racists in my time but not many of them (if any) ever admit to being a racist

Many are successful people,  good people on the surface of things but nonetheless,  racists

And people like Trump empower these people.  He is music to their ears

In a way it's a good thing because they identify themselves

Put it this way ... how can a non racist vote for a white supremacist like Trump?

Racism is often well disguised dieter

A wolf in sheeps clothing and all that.  People get sucked in.  Happens in politics,  religion,  sport etc etc

Related: Many racist Trump fans will not only deny their own racism but will maintain that Trump isn't a racist either

And they will do it en masse so as to sound convincing.  It's clever - like a previously agreed to pact

But anyone with half a brain will see through it all

The democrats and mass voter fraud are like two peas in a pod.

Biden, the worst candidate of all time (somehow even worse than Hillary),  has the most votes ever?  More than Obama?   They aren't even trying to hide it.

Trump warned for months about mail in voter fraud.  He was right as always.

Despite all this, Trump will win.  Even if it needs to go all the way to the Supreme Court.  He already won election night until the 6 democrat run states just stopped counting.  And some people think thats ok.  Wow.

Hey dumb dumb, if the Democrats were going to rig this election do you think they would:

1. Lose house seats

2. Not take senate majority

3. Get Mitch McConnell, that absolute [censored], re-elected

4. Are you smart enough to understand anything I said above, or are you a typical Trump supporter who just flings poo at the wall like a monkey hoping something sticks?
If not, please name for us the 6 democratic states you speak of who “stopped counting” (hint: Arizona and Georgia are Republican states)

This slow death of Trump is the highlight of 2020 and the meltdown yet to come is the sweet finale of the TV show I’ve been watching for 4 days titled “make America sane again”.

Thankfully come January this son of a [censored] is likely going to jail ?

This thread totally mirrors the "Divided States of America".  Lets get one thing out of the way, I tend to vote conservative.

And actually I don' t think I'm very far removed in my idealogy from most in this thread.  I think Trump is a d#ck the way he has reacted.  I'm for equality, be it race, or social status, sexual preference, and anything else that makes you a human being.  I'm for a fair go for all, the person is whats important, not their race, nor their religion, their sexual preference, their wealth, etc.  Just on wealth the condemnation of those who have succeeded financially irks me.  Not all, but a lot have done it through hard work or the generational hard work of their families.  I don't begrudge anyone.  By the way I'm not wealthy.  Inside my family there are polar opposite views, we discussed the recent Forbes rich list for Australia, one was horrified at the wealth of those listed and considered it ill gotten,  and condemned them, another said essentially "good luck to them"

I'm not young.  I'm not elderly.    I have children ranging from 27 to 12. The thing that disturbs me most in this world is that some cannot accept others opinions and therefore seek to belittle, censor, and condemn those with a slightly different view. Referencing the above wealth discussion, I'm pretty proud that my kids have wide ranging views on these things, and other pertinent topics in our world.  It means I havent indoctrinated any of them, although I'd like a bit more tolerance :)

There are good people on both sides of politics, in Australia and in the US.

People shouldn' t condemn those with slightly opposing views, nor try to tar others with the same brush,  based on their side of politics, because there are many many facets to how you see the world and how you vote.

We are too quick to label the right side as fascists and neo nazis etc, and the left as communists.  The fact is most of us are somewhere in between. So why cant we consider others views reasonably without these labels?

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
