Just watching the highlights and the ump didn't call advantage. But it actually happened a second time in the match. Smith got a HTB call on Cameron on the half-back flank and Brown took the kick. Called 'play on'. I wonder how often this happens without me ever noticing it.

He was as bad against Freo and again poor tonight. In the last 3 games he has a grand total of of 16 possessions and four marks, none contested. 

But the issue i have is not those numbers - it can be hard for a forward to get possessions (though the odd mark would be nice).

The issue i have is that the last 3 games have all been season defining, must win games. Reputations are made, or not as the case may be i such games. And Weed has been miles off an acceptable level of pressure in all 3 games, tonight included.

As an example he did not lay a single tackle in any of the last 3 games. That is not on. 

Maybe i should re-phrase. I don't think Weid has been as bad as you and others are suggesting.

The lack of tackles is the big knock - as I've said, I agree wholeheartedly that he needs to lift his second efforts when the ball hits the deck.

But as to the rest, you're looking across a pair of games in Cairns where our opponents (particularly Sydney) and our own ball movement made it difficult for him to get into the game. And as I've said, it's not like he's not buttering up and making marking contests. That part of his game has still been serviceable.

Free was given for holding the man, with resultant goal to GWS. Melbourne player said after he never grabbed him and replay showed he didn’t. Umpire said” I thought “ you grabbed him. Since when are free paid for thinking something happened rather than seeing it actually happen?

Great feedback to him from May on playing his role by reinforcing the right behaviours: 

“Both of his goals came from closing down his man and winning the ball back… I told him that’s what happens when you work hard and play your role.  “I’m super proud of him and that should give him a lot of confidence.”

He continuously failed to provide a contest against Sydney and Fremantle. The team defence against him in the Freo game was not as good as it was against Sydney and he still failed to bring the ball to ground.

I think he's had a good year for a young key position forward, but he's been very poor and a deadset liability the last three games IMV. 

If we're to beat Essendon, he needs to be a lot stronger. For a guy his size, with a few pre seasons under his belt now, he gets outmuscled far too easily.

After four years ourbackline still lets the like of Daniels this week, Walters last week get a free ride - look like we finally addressed it with Lockhart Mid season and he hasn’t been seen last three weeks!

What about the examples where Goodwin has shown himself to be a tactical innovator? He may have failed in a number of attempts but he's not a dead fish like he's made out to be on here. The heat on the team over the past two seasons has delimited his breathing space, but Simon is a bright mind and a dedicated student of the game and sport in general. I get that the fans have run out of patience, yet the confirmation bias on here is strong. Team does poorly, it was Goodwin's fault; team does well, it was somehow in spite of Goodwin.

Hmm that really does make you wonder.  Better midfield coach i think we need either way.  Feel like considering our onball talent ,there is a very limited amount of craft going on.  Both Petracca and Oliver do some sublime things, both can become so much more.   Exciting that i think neither are close to hitting their ceiling yet.  Brayshaw too has not hit his ceiling either.  I find Jack hard to rate....i think he has lot of things he could do to improve upon, and many of them are relatively simple fixes.  Ultimately i guess we need to find a way to get the best out of all of them. Each of them to me want to be champions of the game, particularly Clayton and Petracca.

I don't have any real doubt that both are Melbourne players (although I would have thought that about Viney and Brayshaw once too). While Trac has been widely acknowledged for stepping up this season - I still don't think he is getting enough credit. Still team first - and when both he and Oliver step up to their level against Collingwood (it's been a gruelling season and not a huge surprise they've both tapered off a bit) they will be the new leaders of our club. It could be as soon as next season.

Interesting!! First time I recall seeing it but probably happens often. I suspect those umpires won’t be getting any finals games.

Obviously my point was if the midfield coach (Mathews?) is telling outsiders the players are uncoachable it might actually be his coaching abilities that are the problem, and not the players. That's if the comments are true which I take with a grain of salt.

Watch the presser. It was a gutsy and emotional win and we celebrated accordingly. But then Goody was smart enough to immediately put the brakes on and adopt a terse, unfinished business attitude. 

I'm certain that will be the messaging in-house this week as well. Goodwin also doesn't write the headlines. 

Absolutely not.  Not a chance.  Why would I do that?  But seeing that you highlighted his comments.  Lets have a look at them.
