Reiwoldt to Miss Round 1?

Yeah if he's out and reiwoldt is out I guess they sort of cancel each other out...

A swag of St. Kilda players went around today for the Casey Scorpions and all reported fit at the end of the game. Koschitzke kicked 3, Hayes played a half and did OK (didn't even get reported this week), Thompson, Hudghton, Voss, Fisher and Maguire all got through although not full games. It's probably a bit of a risk to play all of them plus Riewoldt on Friday night but who knows?

Also Fremantle's Robert Haddrill broke down with a knee injury in a club game in Perth and could need a reco. Its already been a bad year for knees and the season hasn't even started.

Unfortunately Hayes got off too! Will be underdone anyway I would have thought!

Yeah, but even though he's not played much, apparently he played pretty well. I rate Hayes enormously. In fact, I'd just about go as far as to say he's the Saint I'd be most worried about on match day if I was MFC coach.

I certainly hope that nobody at the club focusses their attention this week on whether or not some or all of these St. Kilda players under an injury cloud get up to play against us on Friday night.

It would be much better for us to concentrate on our game and not letting down our guard because we think the opposition might be underdone or not at full strength. I'm sure that's what the coaching staff and the players will be doing.

True, but they will be underdone, and so if our new fitness regime is really as good as what we've heard, we should run all over them in the last quarter.

Lyon is kidding himself if he thinks he has inhereted a list that is as physically strong as the Swans. Recent history would suggest that the

Saints are highly sensitive when it comes to injuries, and many of their players break down consistently, especially when played underdone. Maybe Lyon will pull out the tape from the last time we played each other, the same game where the Saints ended up having no bench. At least back then it was a must-win final. Friday night is only the beggining.

I just hope that Melbourne don't act as desperately as the Saints, and play Rivers, Pickett or Bartram if they are underdone. It's a long season!

Thats how I see it Jaded.

Word coming from St Kilda City F.C. (not far from the Junction) is that the demon players truly believe they are MUCH fitter than their Saints counterparts. Not just opposed to MFC but I heard they think the saints are seriously under done.

There is conjecture that the moorabbin boys and staff are also keenly feeling the loss of one Grant Thomas.

Almost to the point of not being as focused as their professionalism should ensure.

I must confess to only hearing "word of Mouth". Easy to believe when it sounds so good!

Leigh Fisher

Sam Gilbert

Lenny Hayes

Max Hudghton

Justin Koschitzke

Matthew Maquire

these players were all given permission to play with the Casey Scorpions this weekend, due to their interrupted preseasons ect

take out gilbert, but the rest of the players are pretty much top 22 (thompson not maybe)

throw in reiwoldt, hammil, raph clarke, gardiner, harvey who have all had crap pre seasons themselves

st kilda are looking at another waste of a year unless they can work out why injurys keep happening to their stars!!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
