Add Fritsch and that's five changes (unless we keep Preuss - but I don't like our chances if we do that).

Ah yes. Obviously can't count to five!

Nearly 25% turnover.

Cant see them picking preuss but who knows this year.

Tmac out is a weird one in some ways. Did they really expect him to play much better last game? Its not as if he was magicallly going to rediscover his mobility or agility.

You have to think work rate for harmes was an issue, not just form.

And perhaps also for fritter:

goody in the post game review: 'mate your defensive effort was [censored] poor, you'd better pull your finger out  you're not on bloody holiday'

Nekminnit bailey rocks up late to training in a Hawaiian shirt.

Well with Fritsch suspended, Sparrow injured and TMac and Harmes allegedly dropped, we're not necessarily fielding our best 22 this week.

Tmac and harmes aren’t in the best 22 right now and sparrow is about as fringe as you can get. I think Brown for tmac would be an upgrade from what tmac has shown

Agree on both points. Goodwin said in his presser today that Jones and vandenBerg may both play in the middle with Sparrow out, so hopefully that means we have some quicker legs on the outside.

I actually didn't interpret the press conference that he will back in this week specifically but given the social media team has gone with it, it must be happening.

Fritsch is a massive out. Hard to match up on, in form. I think we have already lost.

Maybe its Richo's magical formula to beat the Saints?

I know I'm a typical Melbourne pessimist but this reeks of desperation.

I just cant see us being within 8 goals of this one.

#GoodwinsLastStand ?

If anyone knows how to destroy the Saints it's Richo.

100%. But I think having more players around who apply pressure will help them. ATM they have had Melksham, Fritsch and Hannan, and none of them are doing much chasing and tackling.

Agree with the first two LN but Hannan, albeit not setting the world on fire in this regard (actually no one is...with our young rookie Kozzie just leading the way here), isn't so bad as the former sitting in equal 3rd place for average tackles inside 50.  The other two running at about half his rate here.

We will need to ramp things up as you say and given our lack of pressure in general, the more the merrier.

Can't see us beating the big boys very often until that begins to happen along with importing a genuine KF plus some outside run & class / finish to cover the non-langdon wing.  Hoping that might become Bennell at some point but i'll believe that when / if it happens.

Don't think Jones helps with our lack of pace against speedy St.Kilda. Hope I'm wrong but I think Jones isn't a automatic best 22 any more.

other than a direct replacement for AVB, and imo he deserves it given his better form in general, i agree (vs the Saints).

Against similarly sluggish sides i think he still is...just, for now.

Once again the club’s top goal scorer but he had a few uncharacteristic flat spots during the season and the club will be looking for much better from him in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #18 Jake Melksham

After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. He has re-signed on to the Demons for 1 more season in 2025. Date of Birth: 12 August 1991 Height: 186cm Games MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 229 Goals MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 188

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. 2024 Player Reviews: #42 Daniel Turner

The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
